Most people don't care much for Cops in the same way they don't care for Politicians

I think most people usually strongly support the police.

There is a small, vocal, and very violent minority who are given disproportionate coverage in the media but I don't think they have widespread support in reality.

Whatever people may claim they want on Twitter, they do NOT really want to have the police removed from where they live. It's always some other community that they want it for, not their own.

I expect most black people want more police in their neighbourhoods to protect them from the violent criminals that prey on them.

anyone following the derek chauvin trial?.

if you are actually following it, not just listening to the media, you will likely realize that there is a huge gap between what is going on in court and what is being reported in the media.. if the trial was fair, i think he should be acquitted.

there is plenty of reasonable doubt about the cause of death (his dealer doesn't want to testify because he could be guilty of 3rd degree murder for selling him a fatal amount of fentanyl) and even doubt over whether the officer even had his knee on the guys neck or did anything counter to what they were meant to do as per policy.. but is it fair?

Did I mishear something in the trial?

Was there some question about whether the car exhaust could have effected him, and did I imagine that they dismissed it because his blood oxygen level was so high?

If so, how do you die of asphyxiation and at the same time have plenty of oxygen in your bloodstream?

I'm not a doctor, but I thought "breath to get oxygen" was a thing?

What police have to deal with

so, the actions of cops have come under scrutiny in recent days, what with the trial of derek chauvin and the death of daunte wright.

i certainly hope justice is served in both those cases.. what is easy for people to forget, is just what police officers have to deal with on a regular basis, during their interactions with citizens.. here's a video breaking down one such interaction.. a car owner was driving his car but the tags weren't legally displayed.

cops wanted him to pull over but the driver continued driving for a mile and a half with a police car following with sirens and lights.

No, he ends up dead for either shooting at a cop or appearing to be about to shoot at a cop. If you hide your hands, then swing your arm quickly toward the cop, I think you should expect to be shot. Especially if you've been a grade A idiot jackass for the last 30 minutes for no good reason whatsoever.

Why did the jack booted thug need to open the car door?

Why did the grade A idiot have to be a jackass?

Now, you don't get to accuse police who are doing their job of being "jack booted thugs" on this site unless and until they actually have been "jack booted thugs".

Please reserve such language for when it is actually warranted, and not when their actions are more than justified.

At some point people will have to agree to the "terms and conditions" for the area they want to enter which could include the policies for policing and law and order.

No one can then complain that they don't like it. If they want to live in the "no cops, fight for survival" area then have at it, and enjoy.

If they enter a "we enforce laws here, expect to be shot if you attack someone" and get themselves shot? Too bad, so sad.

People seem to have forgotten that the reason we have jury trials is because it's meant to be better than mob justice.

This was mob justice, not a fair trial, and it will be appealed because you can't imagine a more unfair trial situation than the jurors being under threat of death and senior politicians and the president commenting on that the result of the trial should be.

If it happens again at appeal, then what? Mistrial?

The short-sighted will miss the point that adhering to the principle of ensuring the right to a fair trial is way more important than the outcome of any individual case.

And the result appears to have deflated the impetus for police reform, so no one will get what they wanted.

But expect the long term effect of this to be fewer police. Who would go on duty in the current climate?

so i see some very counter intuitive videos on how there is no over population issue.

that the world will grow to about 11 billion and stop.

well that would be the first time in human history that population just stopped.

LMAO China has not eliminated poverty nor has or will they or India. That is one of the most stupid things I have every heard.

Yeah, what people will do is calculate the average wage, including the new ultra-wealthy and declare it fixed. Once again, the super-rich saving the poor from actually classifying as poor through the power of wonky statistics.

So "guilty" then, jurors chose the lives of themselves and their families ahead of the guy they never met, and I can't blame them!

The judge already directed people to the future appeal, where the real verdict will be decided ... maybe?

And at least there won't be any rioting, violence and looting ... right?

when you look back the last 20 years , what a transformation!

back then witnesses were putting out poetry and most were singing the praises of the organization.

slowly and gradually, negative thoughts were allowed to be expressed about doctrines, elders and congregation life.

What kept me coming back??? The humour! You lot were so damn funny!

I’d never met such funny JWs before and I knew there was something different about the people on here....I felt enormous kinship such as I’d never really felt before.

I think there is a lot of value in people just acting normally and being friendly and real. Especially after the fakery of the WTS environment.

I know some people love the deep theological discussions, but I've always felt that people rarely leave because of those just as they rarely join because of them.

It's all about personal connections and feeling a sense of belonging. So the personal stories and friendly words that help people to relate and feel like they can join in are worth so much.

We are definitely all mental though.
