  slavery being just another form of the employer-employee relationship (and that thus the same biblical NT principles of obedience of a slave to its master apply to modern employees in regards to their employers). Note that least one of my black ancestors were slaves in the USA (when slavery was practiced in the southern USA) and I find slavery to be extremely appalling, including as depicted in the TV miniseries called "Roots" (which I watched when it first aired, and I also read the entire book called Roots [and my father, a white JW, kindly gave to me a Reader's Digest condensed version of the book, without me asking for it]);

  Seriously, this bothers you but then you vote for the party of slavery and the KKK, LOL

  The idea of giving half a million dollars to people who have entered the county illegally is ludicrous isn't it? Even the staunchest democrat supporter has to know this is pure bat shit crazy and like waving a flag to attract more ... which of course, is the whole point of it - your replacements will arrive shortly.

  Remember when the claim was that "the adults would be back in the room"?. What a joke. This is the most inept, incompetent and dangerous government the US has had. Who thinks they've only just got started? Things can and probably will get a lot worse yet.

  for example, large amounts of money are raised by the organization as a donation and then legally introduced into the financial system.

  is there any chance that jw.org is used for this kind of purpose?

  They gamble in stocks and shares quite hypocritically.

  Investing isn't the same as gambling, unless you are picking stocks by throwing a dart at a page for the S&P 500.

  You have far more chance of making decent returns on investments compared to gambling, where you are statistically guaranteed to loose.

  The WTS makes plenty of money from free labor, donations and property deals. They have no big cash businesses that would enable them to launder money and no need to do so - the risk would far outweigh any reward for them.

  so, in the uk there was recently a bill which was nodded through parliament - the animal sentience bill - which was backed by vegan activists.. dogs, cats.

  cows, even lobsters now have been recognised to have feelings.. first of all, let me say that if you want to go vegan that's fine with me.

  we're all allowed our individual dietary choices.. but for how much longer?

  Anyone in their right mind, whether they eat meat or not, should want animals treated humanely and never have to suffer. But this isn't the way to go about it.

  There's a whole populace that never works and likely never will. They seem happy to live in state-funded poverty, whining about their lot in life, and then voting for the exact status-quo at every election time.

  I have little sympathy for people who chose to build their own prison walls and then lock themselves in.

  my in-laws are two such people.

  people who pioneered and did not work and try to save, instead they made just enough to get by and waited for the end to come.

  now my mil is in palliative care and the state is paying for her keep, my fil lives in a dilapidated home and can not keep it up.

  Apart from the money they take from people directly, and the expenses of going to meetings and assemblies, buying suits etc... (for many, it's the only time they need to wear one), the biggest cost is time.

  You can do so much with your time once you leave, it's really THE most valuable commodity anyone has and why people work - to purchase future time not working.

  Away from the WTS you can develop your career, start and run a business, educate yourself, or heck, just sit and relax for a while, spend time cultivating real meaningful friendships.

  Margin of error +/- 6 million years

  Think of all the things that scientists can't really tell us for certain, today, when things are measured.

  It's all guesswork, but there's no one to check, 'cause no one was there. Heck, it doesn't even look like a footprint - hello, McFly, did no one notice that it isn't even an actual footprint?

  Anyway, outlandish claims get them free headlines and more funding ...

  the article says in part the following.. 'the scientific consensus that humans are altering the climate has passed 99.9%, according to research that strengthens the case for global action at the cop26 summit in glasgow.. the degree of scientific certainty about the impact of greenhouse gases is now similar to the level of agreement on evolution and plate tectonics, the authors say, based on a survey of nearly 90,000 climate-related studies.

  this means there is practically no doubt among experts that burning fossil fuels, such as oil, gas, coal, peat and trees, is heating the planet and causing more extreme weather.. a previous survey in 2013 showed 97% of studies published between 1991 and 2012 supported the idea that human activities are altering earth’s climate.. this has been updated and expanded by the study by cornell university that shows the tiny minority of sceptical voices has diminished to almost nothing as evidence mounts of the link between fossil-fuel burning and climate disruption.. the latest survey of peer-reviewed literature published from 2012 to november 2020 was conducted in two stages.
