Fawlty Towers (1975) & (1979) - still laugh-out-loud funny after all these years
by LoveUniHateExams inso, i went and bought series one and series two on second hand dvd for one pound each.. i first saw series one of fawlty towers when i was about 11, then i saw series two a year later.. it's a little dated now, but that doesn't really matter because it's still making people laugh.
that's all comedy is.. there is one episode - the kipper and the corpse - which i think is a bit rough around the edges, it's not as polished as some of the other episodes.
but it still has some great lines in it, e.g.. the two old ladies: you're in a good mood today, mr fawlty.. basil: yes, well one of the guests has just died.

Screen time or Green time..
by zachias in"girls who spent less than an hour on screens and boys who spent less than 90 minutes on screens were not negatively impacted by it.
but at higher amounts of screen time, their life satisfaction dropped significantly—they were less happy with their lives, and it got worse the more time they spent.
if screen time went above 105 minutes per day for boys or 75 minutes per day for girls, their mental health also got worse.".

We watched the set a year or two ago, it was really good. Such great characters.
I never realized how big a gap there was between the two series.

US Government Insurrection Attempt
by Simon inso now we know the russian dossier was a fraud, the whole "russian collusion" was a hoax, and we know it was funded by the clintons and promoted by the dem's media allies.. given that this was the basis for an actual attempt to remove the elected president of the united states, this was an attempted insurrection.. clinton is guilty and should face charges.. given that they did this, does anyone still believe that they wouldn't commit some lesser, election fraud, crimes?.
if so, you still haven't learned anything.
"fool me once" and all that ....

Weaponizing the impeachment process by the Democrats to me remains one of the most shameful things I have seen in my country's history of politics because it poisons our standards of democracy and fair play by abusing a sacred constitutional privilege.
The Clintons have been an absolute cancer to America. The host needs some political radiation treatment.
Also, all the people who cheered this on fell for THE biggest conspiracy theory of the decade. A complete invention. Clearly bogus. But the suckers fell for it hard.
Will they learn? Nope - they're already being too suckered again.

JWs who are now paying the price of following the cult.
by mickbobcat inmy in-laws are two such people.
people who pioneered and did not work and try to save, instead they made just enough to get by and waited for the end to come.
now my mil is in palliative care and the state is paying for her keep, my fil lives in a dilapidated home and can not keep it up.

this husband and wife had to apply for extra government assistance just to help them get by
Yeah, either relatives have to bail them out or the taxpayers do.
People who voluntarily screw up their lives shouldn't get handouts from anyone.

When in Canada I love Poutine. We don't get it here in the UK
The cheese curds ruin it - the fries and gravy are the parts that matter. Add a meat & potato pie and some mushy peas and mmmnnn.
I love me a good donair too, but the ultimate meal is Yorkshire Pudding, Sprouts, Carrots + Swede (Rutabaga), Roast Potatoes, Stuffing and Gravy. I don't waste plate-space with meat, the veg is where it's at.

It's all fantasy, and of course the plots really make no sense whatsoever. It's about incredible looking stunts and the hero story.
These show how idiotic they really are, but I still think they are great movies:

The Poor the Wealthy and the Middle Class
by Simon inthe poor spendthe middle-class savethe wealthy invest.
the unique circumstances of the lockdown and stimulus checks has highlighted these differences in stark ways.. on one hand, you have jumps in sales and valuation of companies like foot locker and nike, as people spend their "free" government money on sneakers.
they blow it on useless tat.

That the system is rigged against people wouldn't be so bad, if it applied equally to all. But as we've seen from the numerous data leaks and results of tax fraud units - there are a different set of rules applied to the wealthy and the ruling elites.
The endless "loopholes" are easily fixable and the fact that they aren't tells you everything you need to know about their intent (and that they prefer a complex, expensive system to a simple, efficient one)
Everyone with any sense should aim to organize their affairs in such a way that it deprives the government of every tax cent possible.
