This was one of the most bizarre parts in the video. Someone made a comment about him grooming a 14 year old and instead of denying it, he starts ranting about how the exJWs tear people down and don't support him enough.

How difficult is it to categorically deny something? And what are people meant to think if you don't?

This was a textbook case of how NOT to do damage control, it was just terrible and he made himself look worse than if he'd just issued a statement and an apology. But he couldn't resist the opportunity to get publicity and an audience (and make more money from it!).

Did Kim confront Lloyd before he made the announcement or after? Did Kim tell Lloyd that I will post the truth on social media if you refuse to shut the community down? Why didn't Kim make the announcement after Lloyd decided to return making videos?

My understanding is that Kim gave him advice that he should step away from social media, but he refused to. She and the producer then quit, and issued the statement. People have to do this because otherwise you're seen to have been supporting it.

I don't believe that only they knew, I suspect they were told because it was going to come out. It would be inevitable - you can't be doing those things and it not come to light eventually. But regardless, as she said, people who donate money have a right to know what that money is used for, because any decent person would object to it's use to perpetuate and enable abuse of his wife and prostitutes.

I hope she knows she did the right thing, and doesn't get any nonsense for it from the crazy Lloyd zealots who really have just picked themselves a different, sleazier, messiah. The one thing I agree with Lloyd is that some (not all) exJWS are fucked up because heck - someone admits to doing all that and they still want to support and donate to him, what is wrong with them?!

I've often thought that some people in the WTS were prevented by the rules from being their true selves, and the WTS-made version was a much better version of them than the shit they really are.

ExJWs seem to have the reverse of the blinkers on that JWs have - imagining that anyone who leaves the WTS is now "good, and one of us". No, some people are scumbags, and if the WTS kicked them out or was about to, it's because they couldn't help being who they really were.

The WTS didn't make them who they were, the WTS contained them for a while.

Leaving the WTS or winning the lottery don't really change who someone is deep down, it just reveals their true personality, allowing them to live their real lives without constraint or the limitations previously imposed.

Some people are the same good decent people, with a decent moral compass, who care for their wife and family. Some people ... well, they have nearly always already revealed their true selves even as a JW in how they behaved and how they treated people, which is true in this case if you look at his history objectively.

Except no, it wouldn't. Because I'm not asking YOU for money, someone else pays to have ads that you see. Very, very different, and very clear exactly who gets what, for how much.

People have in the past donated, which I appreciated, and I can guarantee that 100% of the money went to paying for the hosting resources that the site consumed, and $0 was spent on trips abroad to screw prostitutes.

I am not paid to do what I do, and have never expected to be. I don't think it's right to have other people pay anyone a salary for protesting something or providing support when it isn't in any professional capacity.

Actually not true. When I was working in the rehab facility we had a class on suicide prevention. The counselor running the course said that suicidal people frequently talk about it first.

Yeah, I phrased that poorly. I was meaning in the context of making YouTube videos, but specifically that I don't think he's suicidal by a long stretch, that was a performance that he'd rehearsed, which is why he paused when the camera went off so people could witness it.

prostitution isn't some career choice. The rehab outfit had a film of interviews with sex workers in Thailand. One young woman (I have no idea how old she was -- she looked about twelve) described the vicious circle she lived in: she needed to turn tricks to get money to pay for drugs so she could turn more tricks to get more drugs... Heart breaking. I'm glad I never gave him money to support that kind of abuse.

Totally - its heart wrenching when you see the stats of how many predominantly women and young girls are trafficked and forced into prostitution and the individual accounts are harrowing. I can't believe we live in a world where trafficking people like that isn't a death sentence.

I'm sure there are some that chose it, but even then I think it's because something else in their life failed - so they chose an "easy" option, but there's a reason people talk about escaping from it, and try to help others to do the same.

Fundamentally, people who visit prostitutes likely don't put the effort they should into determining whether they truly are doing it 100% of the own volition. They likely lack the resources to do so even if they wanted to. Which means they may very well be raping someone, even in western countries but especially in some where sex tourism is a bigger problem.

What's the difference, after all, between Harvey Weinstein taking advantage of someone who wants a part in a movie and someone taking advantage of a girl who needs money or drugs, other than it is far easier for the former to walk away ...

If someone says "yes" because they have no other option, then it's not really consent.

He seemed on the edge of doing so while making this latest video and admitted to having wrestled with thoughts to that effect throughout the ordeal.

I didn't see that. He seemed to relish the number of people watching his livestream. He likes attention.

People who are genuinely considering suicide don't tell people they are suicidal. He appeared to be using "mental health" as an excuse and to elicit sympathy.

All of the thing happening are due to his own choices, and he didn't express regret for any of them.

Exactly, it's hypocritical because if you set yourself up an an activist exposing other people's bad behavior and lies, then you'd better not have any major skeletons in your own cupboard.

And these are not "I once got a parking ticket or stole a sweet from Woolworths pick-n-mix" kind of things, these are serious moral failings, possibly crimes. He's been a complete and utter shit to his wife and not once did he apologize or express any genuine regret in that video - it was all justification and anger for being caught.

On the one hand, he wants to claim that whoever exposed his behavior has committed the biggest crime since JFK was shot, and then on the other he tries to make out that there is nothing at all wrong with what he's been doing - but you can't have it both ways. He's completely amoral - I don't think he really has a clue of right or wrong, whatever he wants to do is "right" for him, and he'll use anything to excuse it. The "I was brought up a JW" is beyond lame as justification. All he's sorry for is that his wife found out and it's been exposed.

Throw in that he wants people to donate to fund all this behavior, claiming the donations are to enable his "activism" against the WTS, but he sees nothing wrong with then spending that money on hookers instead - it's just dishonest. If he didn't need the money for activism, why ask for it? He's taken that money under false pretences.

He even has the cheek to evoke the notion that people should donate because he's "a husband and a father and the work is a major distraction". Presumably, suggesting that he's missing time with them for his work, not going abroad to screw young women.

So yes, criticism of how he's treated his wife and kids is valid, because he's fund-raising off the back of them.

Absolutely. I don't know her, but my heart goes out to the poor woman and what he's done to her. If you don't love someone, you should leave, so they can spend their life with someone who will. You certainly don't go regularly cavorting with prostitutes and risking giving them who knows what STDs from your lying shitty behavior.

It was clear from day 1 that everything Lloyd did was about benefitting Lloyd and promoting himself. I think he saw an opportunity to make a living off of exJWs. I don't know what other skills he has to earn a living, I believe his wife did the work for his translation business.

His ego has left a trail of wrecked projects and bad feeling with everything he's touched. He's now another one of those poster-boys for the WTS to feature "look what happens to you when you leave the truth!".
