The question is, do you, as an x-Witness, wish to blindly fit into that picture? Apparently the 100,000 subscribers to his videos do.

Remember: a good number of JWs get kicked out each year because they are just like him - immoral jerks who simply couldn't live up to basic standards of morality. The JW views on sex and marriage are hardly unique, and certainly not onerous, and easily arguably preferable to the opposite extreme.

Little wonder that he finds an audience when he provides those people with a steady diet of "Governing Body BAD, exJWs GOOD!"

So I'm not surprised he's built up a following, he's the McDonalds happy-meal of activism.

Not all exJWs are the same. Not all left because they discovered it was a lie, they may come to that conclusion afterwards and then think they have him to thank for that revelation, but the truth is they didn't leave, they were kicked out, and that grates on them.

It grates on him. All his "activism" has about trying to create a myth that he left for noble reasons, rather than the reality which is he's just a grubby, sleazy little man.

You're normally one of the more sensible voices, but I think you've lost the plot on this

in fact you may even be profiting from all of the extra activity on your site surrounding this situation. Does anyone expect you to provide breakdown of how you use the money you earn here? Are you profiting off of the pain of XJW's? I don't thinks so but there are people who get funny once money comes into the picture.

The traffic is inconsequential, it's certainly not the type of content that's really "monetizable". Not that it's any of your business, or that you have a right to make out that I'm profiting off anyone, certainly not anyone's pain, or anything other than my own work, but the site brings in pretty much the exact same amount in ad revenue as it costs to run, and I don't charge anyone a "wage" for my "work", and never have.

Torches other peoples lives...really?? A bit dramatic don't ya' think? Sure, he disappointed people, pissed them off etc but no one except for his family, had their lives "torched". How are you and your forum helping anyone by being so foul mouthed and vicious yourself and thereby encouraging others who are being the same way?

No, it's not dramatic. It's reality. He's been like a BSE infected bull in a china-shop in the exJW community, leaving a trail of destruction and fallout in his wake. I don't know why you feel the need to rush to his defence, but I think your sympathies are woefully misplaced and inappropriate. How many people who contributed a lot of hard work behind the scenes have been put off having anything todo with the community because of him? He's a cancer to the cause and always has been, because he doesn't really believe in any "cause" - it's all about him and profiteering.

And if you think that is being foul mouthed and vicious, then honestly, I think you are a fool and a hypocrite, because what happened to erring on the side of kindness? It's just a glib tagline, nothing more, to make you feel "righteous".

I chose to try to help people by giving them a place where they have a relatively safe, anonymous, voice. That's how it's always been, that's what it says on the tin. I don't raise money off people. I don't solicit funds off people. I don't try to contact people. I try to keep a balance and over the years have put up with more shit and grief for what I do than you can possibly imagine.

No matter what other people's opinions are, I'm going to err on the side of truth and victims, and I don't care whatever dick-wad feels put out because of it.

There is another group that feels betrayed by James Lloyd Evans. We have been in contact with several of them... they are the CSA survivors.

One thing that really horrifies me now is how he was seeking out sexual abuse survivors.

First, he is totally unqualified to be offering people support. As much as someone may want to help, I think people should have some proper training and "I made a video poking fun at the GB" isn't it.

Second, he already had a history of inappropriate sexual behavior while a JW.

Third, given what we know now about his inability to control his sexual urges (literally, he thinks his penis is in control of him, not him in control of it) and his proclivity for using "girls". It is wholly and totally inappropriate for him to have any contact, let alone be actively soliciting contact, with any child sexual abuse survivors.

I "hope", although it's terrible in itself, that he only wanted to use them for his own self-promotion and aggrandization. If it turns out he has taken advantage of his circumstances and position in relation to any survivor for anything untoward, then that becomes something else entirely.

Some on this thread have strongly implied/suggested that he has had sex with minors, without any proof.

I haven't seen that. I've seen people comment on his failure to deny that specific allegation in his video as being rather "odd", and from what I can gather it links to some previous rumour about some incident mentioned in his book (I don't know, I haven't read it and never would).

Sex-tourism to Vietnam often evokes that connotation in people's minds. Surely that's the risk that people engaged in sex-tourism to Vietnam face? Most people, who value their reputation, don't engage in things that have strong links to such practices, not only because they value their reputation, but because it's sleazy and abhorrent and there is a lot of human trafficking that any normal decent person wouldn't want to be remotely involved with.

Sorry, I think you're trying to sell it as a "victimless crime". It isn't.

No, I don't give a flying fuck about Lloyd or how he feels, and I won't pretend to, because he never gives a damn about anyone else.

But I am concerned about the people he'll have hurt, many of whom won't be able to express it for fear or shame.

He has demonstrated that he doesn't need anyone's help to start a fire, he's capable of doing that all by himself. But we shouldn't stand silent while he torches other people's lives.

He's leaving a trail of destruction and bad feeling in his wake with everything he touches. Another group of people with tarnished reputations from dealing with him who won't want anything to do with exJW-ism, another website burnt to the ground credibility-wise. He'll just shuffle on to his next scheme and his next victims to fleece and extract work from, thinking they are contributing to support some noble cause, to save people, to care for victims of abuse for fucks sake. He has NO BUSINESS ever talking to any victim or soliciting contact with anyone who's been a victim.

If there was any such thing as an exJW community, we would need to do a much better job at weeding out bad actors. Instead, everyone claps like brain retarded seals because someone utters the magic words "I'm against the WatchTower, I am going to criticize the Governing Body".

And yes, we can judge him, based on his own standards. He tried to make out some old guy buying some bottles of spirits from a liquor store was somehow misappropriating funds and the crime of the century. Zero proof, but it let him waffle on in another "sensational" video expose. The idiots line up to have their biases fed and he has no concern for truth or accuracy, but neither do they.

Just slap the "exJW" sticker on it and put it on the shelf for the next punter to buy. The only thing he got right is that the IS something wrong with the exJW community - they are not critical enough, or concerned enough about who gets to operate in their midst.

The amazing thing in all this is how the "Overton window" has been shifted.

I remember a time when, if someone took themselves off for a luxury vacation abroad and left their wife alone at home to look after two small children, people would think such a man was a complete shit.

Never mind the prostitutes and cheating. He's a complete asshole simply for that. What a way to treat your wife?!

Of course even that wasn't enough for Lloyd. He has to show the world what a complete failure of a man he truly is, and how selfish, entitled and arrogant he can be. It wasn't some "moment of weakness" ... he planned it in advance and cheated on her multiple times.

Yeah, who actually believes he bothered to check anyone's ID, that he even had the capability to verify their ages or didn't care because "don't they know who he is?!".

Everyone will always have that bell ringing in the back of their heads now, "why exactly was he going specifically to Thailand".

I think you're closer to the truth if you start with the assumption that every single thing that comes out of his mouth is a lie, designed to excuse himself from accountability and to justify his behavior. This is just more lies IMO.
