  I don't know about the UK, in the US you can record (or film) anything you want in a public place. There is NO expectation of privacy when you're in public.

  I think the UK was the same, most places are - you can't have any expectation of privacy when you're in public. If you did, the paparazzi / tabloid newspaper industry of photographing celebs would be sued to oblivion.

  But that doesn't mean filming someone with the sole purpose of embarrassing them or presenting them in a bad light, especially if it's done by selective editing and inclusion of clips to present a false impression, is morally justified.

  i.e. if you interview 10 JWs and 7 can't explain their beliefs, that's a story. If you interview 10 and only 1 can't but you play only that clip (and don't bother to find out if they are maybe a new convert) then you're a dishonest lying piece of shit.

  Lies by omission is common for those pushing a specific agenda vs actually fairly reporting on reality.

  I think the whole grooming/CSA allegations are a pointless rabbit hole to go down right now. Even if you could prove the emails are real (as in an actual email) it doesn't mean anything

  Unless you can prove that the email existed, that he was definitely the person in control of the email address and that the messages were definitely posted, then it's impossible to prove they are legit.

  All you might be able to prove from the screenshots themselves is whether they were definitely faked, such as if the font used wasn't released until a later date. And just because they might use a valid font for the dates, doesn't mean that is evidence that they are real. i.e. you can likely only prove the negative from the images themselves.

  Even though the messages appear to fit with other known facts such as his wife finding out about him "texting girls", and would explain the still bizarre "I'm not going to record the judicial meeting because I have nothing to hide" claim, that would still just be circumstantial at best.

  But we do know he uses prostitutes in countries with CSA / trafficking problems, which is why the accusations are useful to him as a way to label all claims as false and vindictive lies.

  It doesn't need to be true for the rest of his behavior to be despicable.

  If he doesn't any patrons at that level, it would explain why he "canceled" the call, but of course he had to make a post about it to make people think he's at least trying to do the bare minimum.

  Yeah, imagine he does the call and some sucker is the only one there. Awkward! Even his most zealous adherent can't be such an idiot that they couldn't figure out they are the only fool paying that much, LOL.

  He's probably thinking that he just needs to string someone along and put it off for a few months and that's an easy $200 that he wouldn't have had before, or paid-for dates with his "rent-a-girlfriend"

  I think he benefitted from targeting a niche where people are strongly invested in the subject emotionally.

  You do see some crazy types on social media that you know live on a constant diet of antiJW material, and like any addict they'll pay someone for their fix.

  Very sad, and despicable to take advantage of people who have already been victimized in some way (and predatory types know who make the best victims)

  As for Lloyd demanding that the IISCA release the database. Would they have even had the legal authority to do that without some protracted drawn out court case?

  It's odd that he doesn't seem to understand what the IISCA was there to do. The main purpose was to investigate how institutions failed to protect children in their care. It was not an active investigation into any particular allegation of abuse per se.

  But of course we know his reason for asking for something they couldn't provide was purely and simply to make himself look bigger and more important. He certainly wouldn't have been suitable to be given any sensitive information.

  Most people are usually posting something that they thing is identifiable but really isn't (like "an Elder in our hall had an affair"), and they are posting anonymously anyway.

  If someone has taken a comment from here and shared it elsewhere, there isn't a lot I can do about that, but if someone has genuinely posted something that could legitimately become a cause for regret, I can remove or change it.

  But we don't do the "I'm leaving now, please delete ALL my posts" thing, as it is unfair to others who have taken part in a discussion.

  By his own admissions he's been unfaithful to his wife for years now, from the start according to his book? And his method of infidelity has escalated. Being a JW didn't control his behavior, neither did leaving, he's not apologetic and seems to actually get a kick out of telling everyone about what he does (especially women).

  I don't believe he's capable of change, growth, self-improvement or anything that takes effort and resolve.

  He's a man-child, always putting his own impulses first, claiming he can't pay for necessities for his kids while buying himself toys, having no regard for the welfare of his family, and shitting on everyone who contributes their time and money to allowing him to live without doing any real work.
