Yep, Stella is a beer that we have in England (from France).
I've already been 'pressured' over certain posts but if people want closed discussion they can go elsewhere - I intend to keep this forum 'open'

Would you listen to a rumour?
by Simon inremember that article brothers?we have been up and running for less than a week and already have had accusations of apostacy bandied about.please stop and think before you make a serious allegation like this.
imagine the hurt it would cause to a genuine brother if it wasn't true.this doesn't mean that we should let our guard down against those who would try and disrupt things or cause divisions amongst us but i'm sure these poeple would like nothing more than to see us fall out with each other.some of these rumours have been spread by members of other boards or people pretending to be them.just be on your guard to this sort of activity and help us by not passing on unfounded accusations.thank you.

Computer Careers
by claudia inhi, i was wondering how many, if any, of you work with computers?
im thinking of going to school for pc networking and want to know if this is a wise choice.

Simon
Yes, I'd agree. MS Certification is a good starting point (I keep meaning to get it myself!).
What you study depends on what you want to get into doing though - network support, software development etc... -

JW and XJW DB's , Bible Conscience and Truth.
by spectromize ini would just like to point out that when i first bought my computer and connected to the internet, the first words i typed in my browser were jehovah, jehovah's witnesses, watchtower.... i must say, i was quite amazed to see so many websites that were for and against us.
my curiosity got the better of me and started reading sites such as watchtower.org ,witnesses.net,watchtower observer, h20, freeminds...ect.. did it bother me to read opposing materials or websites?
as i mentioned in another thread i have spent many years training myself a conscience trained to what the bible and the society's publication have encouraged us to do.. again coming back to the question, did it bother me reading all this opposing stuff?

ding ding...round one
Lets keep this a discussion forum and not a 'fighting forum'!
It is spectromize's personal descision to visit whatever sites he (she?) wants to and is not for us to judge one way or another although obviously, most people wouldn't recommend it!
Lester, if you think that spectromize's post is 'apostate' then that too is your personal decision which you are perfectly entitled to. You did seem to pick up on one sentance though and ignore the rest of what he was saying and I don't think it is entirely fair to judge entire forum on the basis of one post before anyone else has had a chance to repond.
Just a reminder: I don't want to see people EITHER pushing apostate teachings OR being overly sensitive and wrongly accusing others of BEING an apostate.

Forum plans and policy
by Simon inin case anyone is wondering about our registration policy:.
i don't intend to turn people away who want to register and post or make ultra-strict registration procedures because i honestly don't think that they work.
if i were to ask for names of congregations or presiding overseers then i have no real way of checking if they are correct.

1) My name is Simon.
2) I have used the name Caliban (from Isaac Asimov's excellent Foundation books) but am aware that other(s) have posted using the same name (as of course they are totally free to do).
3) I am not hiding behind any alias but I have nothing against other people doing so if they wish to.
4) I think registering to make one post and then changing the email address in your registration is a bit childish and a little dishonest. -

What's it gonna be?
by Frenchy insome time back i noted on another board that what is really needed is a site wherein a witness can discuss his faith.
not a site where everything that is not considered 'positive' is censored (what can you discuss then?
) and not a site for bashing jw's (if there is nothing positive, what's the point?
-
Simon
Thanks Frenchy - I think that's good advice.
It's simple really - if there is a subject that you don't think should be discussed then don't discuss it! .
I hope this site will be a bit more forgiving and friendly than Witness.net and will allow us to have sensible discussion about our faith but I don't want it to become a place for people to just 'have a go' at us. I hope anyone who visits with this in mind will respect that just as we should respect their choice not to worship Jehovah as we do. -

What are guidelines?
by claudia inhi simon, what are the guidelines for the bible research forum?
i dont want to get anybody mad or anything, this way i have a clear cut view.
thanks simon.

Hi Claudia
You are welcome to post any sincere question that you have, whatever the topic. This is exactly what I created this forum for.
I think some people sometimes forget that we should be here to help our brothers and don't have any right at all to judge them. But then 'taking offense' is easy and fools many into thinking that such ones are very strong spiritually when those that are really strong will help to answer the questions that others may have. -

Holiday plans for the summer?
by Simon inhi, anyone have any holiday plans for the summer?.
we hope to go to canada to visit relatives and maybe go down to san-diego to take the kids round the zoo & sea-world.
went there a couple of years ago on business and it was incredible!.

I'm definitely going to start travelling more - travel broadens the minds (and lengthens the anecdotes)
And I'd like my kids to see all the wonderful places that I never went to see. As long as they come back and tell me all about them.glad you liked the clown...this is my fav

Donation Arrangement
by Frenchy ini am curious as to how many of you are completely comfortable with the 'new' donation arrangement.
(okay, i know it's not new anymore but...) do you prefer it over the old way?
(i'd like to leave these two magazines with you for a contribution of fifty cents).

Simon
I don't think it's necessarily dishonest - it's just easier for both parties involved and saves either from becoming embarrassed.
I think it's more dishonest to take as much as £5 from someone who may not really be able to afford it and is possibly afrais to offer less for fear of looking stupid. -
