I remember our circuit used to have proper sit-down meals and waiter/waitress service (sort of). It wasn't very efficient though speed wise...
To avoid congestion, they split people into groups. You had a ticket with a letter on which you bought in the morning. They would have a large notice board on the platform at lunch-time with which meals were being served.
Now the best bit...
It took longer than the lunch time break to do all the meals...so...every so often, during the afternoon talks, someone would walk onto the platform and change the sign to the next letter and a lot of the audience would get up and walk out.
Zealous types got there early to to get an 'A', 'B' or 'C' ticket...getting something like a 'G' got you out of the sessions though!

I don't think that anyone "can't stand JW's anymore"...most JWs are nice, honest people.
Many have to cope with and understand the situations that they find themselves in because of the Watchtower society and being able to talk to others does help. -

I remember the record player we had when I was little played 78's 45's 33's and 16's (I think)
I used to play Gypies Tramps & Thieves at 78 'cause I thought it sounded better (a bit like Pinky and Perky) -

Re H20 - I need your ideas/suggestions
by Kismet inin view of the recent announcement and subsequent discussion regarding the fate of h20 i am looking at buying the domain and all the archives of h20 from rick.. i believe i can get it hosted at a local asp with which i have a great relationship.
this is where i need your creative genius.
i believe we could generate greater revenue from banners that are geared to the audience (kickboxing 101 lessons might be useful but ...).

I'm knowledgeable about MS web stuff - IIS, ASP, VB, SQL Server, XML etc... so if you intend to use this then I could help.
Depends on which software you use which depends on which server languages are available. If it's all unix then you will probably be looking at Perl (UBB) or PHP (vBulletin).
Let us know some more technical details... -

NWT
by amicus inwhen reading the new world translation i used to sometimes think, who translated this gobbledygook?..
i just read another passage where the nwt manages to slaughter the english language.. acts 21:30 .
nwt ...., and a running together of the people occurred:.... kjv ..., and the people ran together:.... niv ..., and the people came running from all directions.. this is an excerpt from the foreword of the nwt; it is a very responsible thing to translate the holy scriptures........into modern speech.

I have a copy of the NT that shows eight translations to a page - it's excellent for comparing scriptures and if 7 say one thing and 1 says something different you can pretty much guess which one is wrong. Helps to avoid bias. It doesn't include the NWT though...

dear friends,.
i received word from a friend who has spoken with infonex that all shell accounts at cyberpass including h2o's will be terminated this coming wednesday, february 7, 2001. all information on our site will be wiped clean on that date.

I understand the sentiment for calling people 'trouble-makers' but we have to be careful that we don't group everyone together. Some people do just like to be controversial and stir up debate but a lot of the people who post are quite sensible and would be most welcome to post here if the wanted - I'm sure quite a few here have been on H20 at smoe point prior!
I posted there occassionally as 'Caliban'. The description I heard of it being like the 'front-line' is quite good. Maybe we'd just need to split things up here into separate forums so we could retain our cosy / friendly (usually!) area but still accomodate the more 'lively' stuff. -
