  Lloyd meets up with his top legal team asking them to justify their costs when his cases against the M7 have been thrown out of court. Maybe because he hasn't shown proof

  It reminds me of the "services" people offer whenever you need to do anything - apply for a work permit, create a company, whatever. You have to provide the information to someone. All you do when you "hire" someone is that they ensure you fill the forms in correctly, but ultimately it's always you doing the filling somewhere along the line either directly or via them.

  It looks like he imagined he could just make a high-level claim of "I've been defamed" and have them go seek out and document the necessary details. Maybe, if he was willing to pay them enough, but unrealistic for the nature of his complaint.

  There's no clear obvious complaint - if there was he would be pointing to it and he's spectacularly refused to even describe what the complaint actually is.

  i was under the impression that it was going to be a short war, that russia’s military would indeed subdue ukraine’s forces quickly but that is not happening.

  seems that russia’s military power is much less than it’s reputed to be.

  no guess how it will all end..

  And if Russia is so bad, why did Europe decide to make themselves dependent on them for their critical energy needs? Seem like an idiotic move, no?

  The only question that matters is whether you want to perpetuate these things. If you do, then support the war. Personally, I think it's sick and the only truly moral stance is to stop these things happening. They can only do it with the support of useful idiots.

  If you think the war is 100% the choice of Putin you probably believed that the Iraq war was all about WoMDs.

  And the question shouldn't be "can Ukraine win", it should be "why do we give a shit?". Seriously, why do we care? Why are we propping up an undemocratic regime? Why do we care about artificial borders? Why don't we re-draw them based on the traditional allegiances people have?

  Can't we learn from Yugoslavia that these "carved up countries invented by world powers" simple aren't sustainable?

  Can't we learn from Iraq that these "forever conflicts" aren't about saving anyone, they don't care if millions die as long as they make $billions from it.

  Although I can see the average Russian being nostalgic for the former USSR and wanting a strong Russia, I really can't see wanting to send your only son to die for it.

  Now look at history. I know it's no longer fashionable to have any kind of memory in the west, but Russia undoubtedly remembers the massive sacrifice it paid to win WWII and the scourge of fascism, so the combination of Nato expansion and a blind-eye given to the nazi segments in Ukraine and bombings of Donbas is an impetus to act.

  Ukraine isn't a democracy and we shouldn't be pumping money into a corrupt regime.

  Yeah posting photos doesn't really work because you can't read text. Simon said we've got to post links, unfortunately, to a third party, like Flickr. That way someone can read the rant properly. I don't have a copy of it so can anyone else do it?

  You have to create an account on an image hosting site and then link to it, perhaps under the photo you post on here for reference.

  No, that isn't quite it. The only issue is with how the images are displayed, but they are stored correctly and if you use the image src link to view them they will look OK. When I fix it, they will all suddenly be super sharp.

  Thanks to Simon for helping to protect the integrity of the discussions by not tolerating the frivolous deletion of posts.

  There's a variation of Hanlon's razor at play. Instead of "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity" it's more like "never attribute to nobility that which is adequately explained by laziness and general confusion".

  But yeah, I think it's important to have a record, and it helps if people are clear on facts vs opinions based on known facts vs speculation.
