In case you didn't notice, Six gave himself away, letting you know it was a joke when he put in his footnote on his first post.

Tonites bookstudy
by Leander init took everything i had to stay seated thru the bookstudy tonite, i felt like getting up and leaving.
the fact that i'm the designated reader did'nt make matters any better either.
i'm not sure how many people on the forum have the isaiah's prophecy book but if you do have a copy check out chapter 21.. chapter 21 in paragraphs 3 talks about how enemies of the israelites (pharoah, nebuchadnezzar)were compelled to acknowledge that jehovah was with his people.

What kind of music do you listen to?
by Leander ini'm a music junkie, i like pretty much all types of music.
but in particular i would have to say jazz is my favorite, but not the watered down kenny g style of jazz.
i prefer the straight ahead, hard bop type of jazz.. lately i've been really getting into psychedelia rock.

I have little one, so we listen to the famous Barney, Sesame Street and lots of "fun" music for kids.
Actually, she likes the stereo I bought for her room and we dance around a lot to top 40 stuff and country music, anything that seems fun and makes her smile.

LOL at Six!
You know, for the life of me, I just can't figure out that swearing stuff. If they'd just edit the language it could get a better rating and be on TCM.

I was a Catholic. I could confess each time and be forgiven. Does that count?

train up a child...with a squeegee...
by wheelwithinwheel inwhile relaxing with my morning java at the local coffee joint i suddenly noticed window-washing equipment moving across the glassed surfaces of the restaurant.
yes, there was one of the local j-dubs hard at it.
the strange thing was the height of his helper ... about the height of an 8-year-old.

Many young ones and some adults, unfortunately, think people *owe* them something. I think that children helping out around the house or learning a good work ethic from one's parents is a good thing.
My gramps was always tootle-ing around with something and let us help restore or paint something. My mom taught us around the house and my dad never called in sick unless he really was.
I've had a job since I was 15 and sometimes had 2 at a time. I've worked 18 hours on 2 jobs for a good while to make ends meet, I did what I had to do in order to do it on my own, not asking for money from my parents. Now, I have a good work ethic, I make good money and have been a responsible, stable earner for my whole life. Fortunately for me, I learned sales and was able to work hard but get paid for it.
Too many parents teach their children to eat from the bread of laziness. Once they learn the easy road, they never take the more difficult but rewarding one.

a positive story about a jw
by peaceloveharmony inokay, i thought since us apostates have been called bitter and angry and unable to see both sides of an issue lately i'd share a positive story about a sister in my old congregation.. this sister was my best friend's grandma.
she was in general just a kind sweet grandma type woman.
every year, she'd put together a "give away.

The sad thing about some of the older ones, is that they spent much of their life being loyal to the organization, spending hours in FS, days and nights at the weeklong conventions, driving thousands of miles to Conventions across the country ..... and now that they are old and useless to them, they are IGNORED.
They are left to be shut-ins, with meager visits, motivated from duty not love. Behind their backs, they are gossiped about because they are "cranky" and "picky", "stubborn", "complainers", etc.
Its very sad to see their lawns go untended, their houses falling to ill-repair. Yet, in the dreaded Christendom, you see youth groups helping the elderly, repairing their homes and don't forget the volunteers of that worldly group, "Meals on Wheels". You don't see JW's taking the lead in caring for the elderly, just words and pictures on the magazines.
I thought they were actually supposed DO what the magazines said. Or sorry, that only applies to not speaking to df'd ones .... after all, its printed in the WT.

Dreaded Ministry School Speakers!
by TR ini'm sure every hall has or had a "student" or speaker that they just dreaded to listen to.
wether it was poor reading and pronunciation, or repetitive words, there are those grueling speakers that are murder to listen to.
and they never got better.. in one hall i went to, this bro, actually a friend of mine, had the speach mannerism "you know".

Actually, LDH, I think the conductor needed to be counseled, not the student. I hope you all thought that the TMS conductor had made himself out to be such a big A*S*S for counseling her like that.
You can tell she took her talk seriously, and all the effort to help her daughter take part. I can imagine how she came to tears. How hard to have a mentally retarded child, no matter how much love you have for that sweet baby. Its very trying. And all your efforts to do just one thing "normally" can be sooo very hard.

I think this has to be an urban legend. I have seen many people say prayers before take-off......

The first time I tried, I got low hours. They didn't say anything. Then when I asked for a meeting, I told them and they got me to stay on. Then finally, I met with them again and told them my situation was not changing and I could not cope with the sadness at the end of the month when I got 82 hours. I would get 89, 82, 83 and cry! I would feel behind in my time and my service at the end of the month did not feel joyous.... Although, it was never drudgery for me to be out and talk with people.
I never felt that the door to door work was hard or difficult. I always had fun and made friends. So since my work was joyous, and the result was a monthly report that made me sad, I was quite distraught...
But I am sensitive.....I try to keep my word and the spirit that motivates my word.
