Seen the GB Lately?

i was wondering:.

has anyone seen any of the governing body lately?

how is their health?

A former Bethelite told me it was rare if a Bethelite got even the national average for field service. He said it was very hard with the workload to get out in the ministry in addition to all the requirements.

I hear its one reason many pioneers leave is because they miss the ministry ..... they have too many work hours, 6 days a week plus all the must-do breakfast/morning worship, the changing into formal clothes for lunch and then back to work, then back home, change for dinner and mandatory family study, travel to congregations for meetings and if you're new, Bethel Entrants school.

although i have serious reservations regarding the views on blood that jw's have, i would like to clarify something with a person who keeps ignorantly insisting that the blood between a mother and fetus are naturally transfused within the womb.

can someone help me to disprove that?

any references from the wt library would be best.. thanks

Thats it! Bilirubin!

I remember tho that the bilirubin left the fetus via the mother. Since they are dead RBC's they need to leave the body, the baby can't rid itself of it, so the mother does it for the baby.

I think also they can test the amniotic fluid for the presence of bilirubin to see the severity of the Rh-incompatibility between maternal and fetal blood. So I don't know why the bilirubin would be in the amnio fluid????

The fact that bilirubin left the baby via the placenta was one of the major factors in the Society changing its view on whether or not JWs could accept blood fractions. This is a natural occurence between 2 separate individuals with 2 separate blood systems yet they do share somethings naturally.....and God supposedly made us this way, so then it would be ok to share some blood components with others.

I had understood that the placenta was a barrier but that some things did pass thru..... example that the Society uses is albumin, I think. I can't remember without looking up the article. But when blood cells die, the kidney of the baby can't get rid of it for the baby, so don't they go out via the placenta so the mother can get rid of the dead blood cells for the fetus? Something like that....

Anyway, whatever substance passes thru the placenta is a component of whole blood which then led the Society to change their view on some medical therapies. Now JW's can accept components of blood but still aren't able to accept whole blood (RBC's, WBC's, plasma).

Sorry, can't help you one bit!! And here's why:

Blood from the mother enters the fetus through the vein in the umbilical cord. It goes to the liver and splits into three branches. The blood then reaches the inferior vena cava, a major vein connected to the heart.
Inside the fetal heart:
Blood enters the right atrium, the chamber on the upper right side of the heart. Most of the blood flows to the left side through a special fetal opening between the left and right atria, called the foramen ovale.
Blood then passes into the left ventricle (lower chamber of the heart) and then to the aorta, (the large artery coming from the heart).
From the aorta, blood is sent to the head and upper extremities. After circulating there, the blood returns to the right atrium of the heart through the superior vena cava.
About one-third of the blood entering the right atrium does not flow through the foramen ovale, but, instead, stays in the right side of the heart, eventually flowing into the pulmonary artery.

They attend one of the KH's located at Bethel.

Apparently, they are kind men and, according to a CO's wife, they are very humble in the congregation and serve as elders in the congregations that they attend.

When the CO and his wife had to serve those halls, they were wondering how in the world they could "critique" or assist those halls, but the brothers told them to treat them and the publishers therein just as they would any hall. If the CO felt the hall needed counsel, he was to give it. If the CO felt they had low hours or low meeting attendance, he was to say it.

Daddy's Little Girl

i was feeling a bit nostalgic this morning in my way to work..and i guess i just feel like venting, so feel free to back out of this thread if you'd like.. i was raised as a jw since i was seven yrs.

i'm the only girl out of four kids.

we were the "ideal" witness family..my dad was an elder, mom stayed home and waited for us to get home from school, all of us kids pioneered and got to go to pioneer school.

Secretly celebrate?

did you ever secretly celebrate a worldly holiday in a way that did or didnt bother your conscience?.

for example on a different day etc?.

Nope, followed the "rules"......

But I did celebrate my birthday this year and will celebrate my daughters, and Mothers day and Xmas. Just for the fun of it. I may even say Merry Xmas to someone for the first time in 12 years.

There is a place called "Hell" in the Caribbean. I had a t-shirt from there a long time ago ....

So if someone tells you to "go to Hell," ask them for a roundtrip ticket ticket to Florida and then rent a sailboat.....it might be kinda fun.
