Also, I suggest you to take a look over the works of Edward Thorndike, a James' disciple, regarding educational psychology and the Law of Effect.

I remember when I study my bachelor degree in psychology that William James was a "must-read" philosopher, since he founded one of the psychology schools, the functional psychology, which later developed as the behaviorist school. The roots of such philosophy schools can be traced back to Greece in the philosophy of Epicurus and Aristotle.

Juarez MX Assembly Kingdom Hall to be sold.
by ironsnake656 inthere are several confirmed announcements in some congregations around the city regarding the sale of the assembly kingdom hall.
one of the reasons why it will be sold is that expenses are not covered by donations.
the hall was dedicated in 2009. actually, in some congregations the elders have not given the announcement for the publisher's reaction... .

Thank you for your comments in this post. Although this AKH is in Mexico border, a lot of brothers from El Paso, TX and Las Cruces, NM come to Spanish assemblies in Juarez. About 10-15% of attendance is from US. An the same happens when the conventions are in El Paso and Las Cruces, brothers from Juarez go to those cities. And according with steve2, they will not wake up. People in Mexico, despite their socioeconomic background, are attracted and attached to any religion/cult. There is a considerable growth in some cults like Pentecostals, LDS (I saw lately a lot of young elders in streets), even in Holy Death cult.

I got a box full of Nintendo Power and Electronic Gaming magazines from an older sister who had grandchildren from USA. Today you need to purchase DLC or cheat codes $$$... what happened to gaming today??

One of my strangest things that happened to me during my life as JW was that I loved (and still I do) video games. I started playing Super Mario Bros in a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) from my cousin and from there I developed an attachment to the video games. I remember that I asked for a gift the NES to my dad and my wish come true! I played like 5 or 6 hours a day and always my mom and dad told me that it was an addiction, even my school performance was almost perfect (I was an A+ student), and I did not neglect my home and JW responsibilities. During the meetings I fantasized how to beat a boss or pass through a difficult stage. Some of the games my parents purchased me or got as gifts where not "authorized" or "no-no" according with the JWland doctrine, since they had references about magic, demons, war, violence, killings, religions, omens/spells, vampires, etc: Iron Sword: Wizards & Warriors II, Dragon Warrior, Cabal, Metal Gear, Contra and Super C, Defender of the Crown, Kirby's Adventure, Castlevania, and Pounch-Out. My parents did not noticed what kind of games I played.
Then, I started to go to the arcade sites where I played games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. In those places, some JW children/teens where the most frequent customers and experienced gamers. I remember that MK games were the "no-no" in the media and among the local JW's. There were frequent talks about the dangers of video games, despite the elder's sons were the most addicted and pro gamers. Then, I purchased the SNES, the N64, the PlayStation 1 and 2, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. My wife is a pro gamer in the Ms. Pac-Man, and I got excited when I discovered that she like video games like me!!
The point here is that despite I was raised as JW under indoctrination, I liked video games and I did not develop a regret to play "unauthorized" games. I enjoyed it. They helped me to escape from the reality and problems, and to learn English. I remember that Watchtower printed some articles that talked about video games (I remember one from a 1982 Awake!), and it is silly how they expose by illustrations the dangers of video gaming, like the boy who makes violent gestures when playing in front of the TV, or when the mom and son are talking with the elders and exposing what kind of games the boy are playing ("Are you playing God of War? You know that if you play this kind of games the demons will posses you?").
I still play (not too much as I was young) since I have a lot of work and responsibilities. What are your experiences if you have any about video games??

Besides, in the thesis the student adds information regarding a report given in Bethel about the France taxation issue during July '98, and there it is explained why France government imposed the taxation:
"As you remember in 1994 and 1995, a cult called "The Solar Temple" appeared in the newsletters headlines with homicides and suicides occurred in Canada, Switzerland, and France. This resulted in many "vigilant cults" groups grow throughout France. The government formed a commission to analyze cults and give recommendations. This is the moment when apostates "jumped in the car", and they claimed that JW have the highest rate of suicides that the rest of the population. In January, 1996, the Gest-Guyard Report established that in France exist 173 "Dangerous Cults", and in the list was included the JW.
This commission recommended the government to exert control in these cults, within the framework of "tax laws". Immediately, the JW Association was audited by the Government. The audit that lasted one year revealed that it was a non-profit organization, and it is not engaged in commercial activities (!!!!). But the government considered that printing bibles, and distribution of religious magazines were not appropriate activities for Christian worship." (Pag. 31 and 32). (When did the government determine which activities are appropriate for Christians?).
"Actually, it is very probable that soon apostates will notice this, will filtrate to the media and make the Society like law offenders, whose disastrous acts have been finally discovered by Officials. So, the Governing Body decided that it will be prudent to take action in an anticipated form, to approach to the media first, in order to give a positive impression." (Pag.33).
What do you think? Do you think that JW will act like this now that there is negative information in some countries about the child abuse, in case that governments act against them (taxation, ban)?
Here is the master thesis:

Episode 6 - Life Gets Dark As One Of Jehovah's Witnesses - Is Live Now
by dubstepped inepisode 6 of this jw life is now live.
it is a brutally honest, at times dark, look into what it was like behind the scenes in our lives.
people don't talk openly about ugly parts of their lives and it leads to other people feeling alone when theirs gets ugly.
