  I'm meeting with the elders...

  i was so adament with my husband about not meeting with them./ i said "no" under no uncertain terms that i did not want to have this meeting.

  so, they have been hounding us for days about it, repeatedly asking.. finally, my husband and the elder both come up to me asking about it.

  so i just said to elder that the last meeting was discouraging and i don't want to be put through that again.

  Definately record it! I wish I'd recorded mine back then. I had a "shepherding" call during which they *shouted* at me and said I had the devil's reasoning.

  If you don't want DF or DA, I would seek to agree with them sometimes but be very, very non-committal. DO NOT answer the question of whether you consider yourself to be a JW anymore (or lie and say of course you do) and do not answer the question of whether you think the Society is the faithful slave (if you say no its almost like DA)

  They might try and be "encouraging" because they've promised your husband, so just go along with it and smile and say you'll do your best but you can't attend meetings right now due to XYZ...

  Avoid Spiritism? Is it the work of demons?

  the bible tells us to 'avoid spiritism'.

  even if we believe in life after death, can our loved ones contact us or are satan and his demons deceiving us?.

  i know that there are so many frauds out there and i am far from gullible, i know to look for generalised statements and 'cold reading'........however....... i really think i have seen the work of a genuine medium!.

  Cross is a pagan symbol, watchtower is a pagan symbol too

  you all jehovah witnesses that said jesus didn't die on a cross but on a stake your wrong because the romans were pagans and what better way to crucify someone than on a pagan symbol.

  i have a fact that you need to listen to as well, the watchtower which you symbolize is a pagan symbol as well.

  oh no how can that be you ask, well let me tell you.. in ceremonial magic and some traditions of wicca and neopaganism, the four cardinal points are believed to have spiritual guardians called watchtowers.

  1.	the religious worship of idols.

  2.	excessive or blind adoration, reverence, devotion, etc.

  Number 2 applies to how individuals view the watchtower society. (i.e. "the society says..." therefore we must all follow it)

  As for number 1 - this means the worship of an idol itself.....it does NOT mean the USE of religious symbols (whether they be jewellery, statues or otherwise).

  The JWs condemn the use of a cross as a symbol. What they don't realise is that people do not worship the actual two pieces of wood which make up the cross image. They worship God but use the cross as a symbol or focus.

  On the other hand, JWs have their idolatry in the Watchtower society.

  i have met him - he is getting old now but he's no less intelligent or fascinating.

  some 40 years ago he wrote a well respected book called "a practical guide to qabalistic symbolism".

  Funny that, when others conduct the experiment then there is a non-significant, i.e. NEGATIVE, result.

  Actually you are wrong. Not all others got negative results.

  Studies are conducted to include lots of participants and have lots of "trials". Therefore if you test 30 individuals and get a negative result, but test 1000 individuals over numerous trials and get a strong significant result, then the wider study is taken as a more accurate study because it is more thorough.

  In this case, some small studies (negative result) were conducted but the larger and more thorough studies show a significant result. Rather than ignore the studies which did not show results beyond chance, they have added in that data and still found that OVERALL the result is significant.

  You know all this, I suspect, but you can't resist the urge to try and make it look "unscientific".
