I don't understand that either, Minimus.
I don't need religion. I enjoy the experience of spirituality though.

"if you can find a religion that's better than jehovah's witnesses, let me know where i can find it".....i've heard jws say this in defense of "the truth" that they know is not 100% right.. what would you say to a witness that suggests that jehovah's witnesses are still better than all the others???

a lot of questions about this, lately.
in the pantheist view, humans have a bit of the same nature as the source (god, if you insist).
it is commonly called spirit.
I'm not saying that murder is part of the plan.
What I'm saying is that death is part of the overall process of the universe and isn't something that is "unnatural" as the JWs try to tell us. Nothing would function properly if there was no death in the natural world. To understand what light is, we need to have experienced darkness. For life to have any value at all we need to understand the lack of physical life.
Everything is cyclical. I am glad that one day I will be able to leave this life behind and probably start a whole new one.

Thats the point, Crusoe,
Death is part of the process and not the cruelty of a conscious god at all....

the only one i know about is the big jesus in the revelation book.. know of any specific other ones?
i want to show hubby....
Sorry, but some of the images are not just accidents. Some so called subliminal art is just silly speculation, but other things I've seen myself are too clear to be accidental, they must have been painted in.

Contrary to theism, pantheists still believe in the intrinsic human value which is even supposed to be divine (as Sirona once explained to me).
Someone actually listened to me! LOL
Yes, I believe that we humans are connected to and part of God and have divinity within.

I'm not Christian but for the purposes of speaking to JWs I usually say
"There are many Christian religions out there who follow Jesus's teachings to the letter. They meet together regularly, they preach, they love one another and they do lots of charity work in the community. Those I've met know that God's name is Jehovah too. I was surprised that they knew, but they do. I was also surprised that they knew all about Jesus's ransom sacrifice just the same as the JWs teach. The difference I find is that they accept people outside of the faith in a loving way, just like Jesus accepted sinners".
Usually this is followed by a stunned silence.
Then I finish with
"If you could check out these other groups, I'm sure you'd find them yourself. So you see, there is "somewhere to go" if you leave the Watchtower organisation".
Then I put on my smug face.
I do actually know that this is true aswell because I have met Christians like that. I just don't think they exist everywhere, but then people are people!

an interesting unanswered question raised by inkling in my thread on creation and god, which i'd like to devote a separate thread to: i would love to hear from some of the resident fundamentalists on this one.... why did got create a achingly beautiful, but ultimately cruel and twisted universe?.
.
[ink].
This is why I believe in God but reject the Christian / Biblical concept of God.
I've had too many experiences which could be termed "spiritual" to reject the idea of something beyond what has been scientifically proven. This something extra - this is what I choose to call God. I could just as easily call it "the One" or "the All".
Just an idea but:
Imagine the universe as a human body. The brain and emotions are "god", the body is the material universe and the minute organisms which live upon the body is life. God (the brain) consciously looks after the body (feeding it, expelling waste, influencing its growth or lack of growth) but God is pretty much oblivious to the bacteria and other organisms which are microscopically existing upon the body. The way the bacteria survive or don't survive depends on the function of the bacteria and whether they exist in harmony with the overall body.
Or something like that...
lol

from coming on here from time to time i notice there is many disfellowshipped ones and alot of those who didnt like their freedoms taken away from them.
ignoring what you have researched and know now how many of you, honestly if there was no disfellowshipping and say you were allowed to have more freedoms such as playing sports, how many of you would still be witnesses?
once again ignore ever coming on here for insight and so forth.
I'm not DFd or DAd.
I left because 1. I'd started studying psychology at college and I started to realise the problems in the JW religion regarding guilt and manipulation and 2. I was sick of the constant feeling of never being good enough - every meeting they pushed how you could be doing more and why were you not doing more?
JWs like to think that those who leave are WEAK and just want to live an immoral life. NOT TRUE. I've met so many exJWs who live perfectly moral lives and are great people. I didn't leave so I could be immoral....I was married when I left and I stayed with that guy (didn't work out, but he left me and thats another story) the fact is I didn't leave so I could do what I wanted to.

and base their laws on the premise that we're inherently stupid, weak and evil?.
look at islam, for starters.
(i can't believe a woman would willingly join this sorry excuse for misogynistic laws.
Kuan Yin is a LOVELY goddess.
http://www.lava.net/tribalartifacts/qunynex.htm
Quan Yin is one of the most universally beloved of deities in the Buddhist tradition. Also known as Kuan Yin, Quan'Am (Vietnam), Kannon (Japan), and Kanin (Bali), She is the embodiment of compassionate loving kindness. As the Bodhisattva of Compassion, She hears the cries of all beings. Quan Yin enjoys a strong resonance with the Christian Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and the Tibetan goddess Tara.
In many images She is depicted carrying the pearls of illumination. Often Quan Yin is shown pouring a stream of healing water, the "Water of Life," from a small vase. With this water devotees and all living things are blessed with physical and spiritual peace. She holds a sheaf of ripe rice or a bowl of rice seed as a metaphor for fertility and sustenance. The dragon, an ancient symbol for high spirituality, wisdom, strength, and divine powers of transformation, is a common motif found in combination with the Goddess of Mercy.
