Ok true what has been said but if my mind can't comprehend nothing from nothing perhaps a unloving, unknowing type of sky god or creature can exist. We have an earth that is predicated on death. I dont see anyone in paradise petting great white sharks eating seeweed. I am just trying to get people smarter than me to help answer deep thoughts I have and for some reason I think there can be something greater than my mind can grasps out there.

Has anyone thought there is a god but he is not perfect. Maybe he is flawed not all knowing and looks at us the same as I look at ants? People are either black or white. I think grey. No matter what something started from nothing. We are here we think and I am writing this. How did it all start. something was forever it really blows my mind.

Why are atheists so intent on scorning "believers"?
by Chariklo inuntil recently, i had never encountered this word "believers" used as it is being used on this board, to describe pejoratively a group of people.
it's not clear to me whether they scorn all who have a faith of some sort.
do they include buddhists, hindus, followers of the baha'i faith, followers of the cargo cult, native americans along with christians, or is it just christians who are honoured with this epithet?.

by Terry inwilliam miller.
do you know how important this man has been to your life?.
do you know your life would have been entirely different (without a doubt) had he not lived?.

"he (Russell) attended a presentation by Adventist minister Jonas Wendell. During his presentation Wendell outlined his belief that 1873 or 1874 would be the date for Christ's second coming". Russell invented nothing just borrowed from bigger brighter men.

In December 1875 Charles Taze Russell, then a businessman from Allegheny, received a copy of Herald of the Morning. He met the principals in the Barbourite movement and arranged for Barbour to speak in Philadelphia in 1876. Barbour and Russell began their association,

Nelson H. Barbour, A ship-board discussion with a clergyman reactivated his interest in Bible prophecy. He consulted books on prophetic themes at the British Library and became convinced that 1873 would mark the return of Christ. This was not a new speculation but had been advanced by others at least as early as 1823.A significant movement advocating 1873 grew up, though it was divided into several parties. Jonas Wendell lead one; another centered on the magazine The Watchman’s Cry, and the rest associated most closely with Barbour. British Barbourites were represented by Elias H. Tuckett, a clergyman. Many gathered at Terry Island to await the return of Christ in late 1873. Christ failed to return and the group dissolved. Barbour and others looked to the next year. That proved a disappointment too.
