slimboyfat joins the Mormons!
by slimboyfat ini know that some people on the board have experience of being mormons, so i would be interested in your feedback.
at church this afternoon it was an uncanny experience.
in the past i've read a lot about mormons, so i thought i was prepared in general for what it would be like.

No hate for Rifter...I don't hate him...I don't know him...
I dislike what he did with the site, I dislike closing it without prior warning. I've lost a lot a good posts that I had bookmarked...the reason why I never copied it to anywhere was because I assumed the site was still up and if it ever was going to shut down then I assumed the basic decency that notice would be given.
This thread is not about Rifter, Designer Stubble etc...it is not about people...I couldn't give two shits what Rifter is doing with his life or why he though it was a good idea to shut down abruptly but he was wrong...
And he was wrong for reasons that have nothing to do with people, it is to do with the support people relied upon on that site and the wealth of informative posts that have been taken away from us.
The fact Rifter is not unwilling to even open it back up for a while, sell it on etc is piss poor...
It is exactly the attitude of the Watchtower, the very attitude we all fled from and flocked to JWR in the first place.
I don't hate Rifter, I'm disgusted at what he has done to the people who used the site...it's unacceptable.

Yeah...let the dust settle and run away like Rifter...avoid consequences...
I appreciated the site, doing a great job running it for 8 years as Rifter did doesn't mean much when he pulls the plug without telling anyone...
Our support of Rifter is no sentimental...he did a great job for 8 years...he did a real bad thing in pulling the plug without notice...those are the facts.
We are allowed to voice our disapproval at the pulling of the plug...just like we commended Rifter for running it for 8 years.
We commend you for being an admin...we again voice our disapproval though at the way it was shut down...you admin/mods had the chance to say to Rifter it was not a good idea...
Loyalty? Again there is nothing sentimental in this...I would be loyal to Rifter if I was an admin but I wouldn't be loyal and wouldn't keep quiet about the decision to pull the plug based on "loyalty"...
Quite frankly I find that utterly unfathomable.

Simon: What happens when you can no longer support this site?
by StephaneLaliberte inhey simon, .
the recent closure of jwr made me realize that this site may not be eternal as well.
a great deal of people attach a lot of importance to xjw communities and yours is the best.

Good to know that even if Simon packs up the ton of threads I've bookmarked will still be available...
I think we need to contact the owner of JWR and get the files so wifibandit can at least host a static copy of JWR...

I've moved on...I don't need this place or JWR to live a happy life...
But I did bookmark a ton of threads on JWR that were excellent source material for various topics in defence of my fade if I ever need to do so...
I've lost that...if I had been given a chance to copy and paste some of it off fair enough.
But we were not...

I much prefered JWR to any other exJW site...therefore I'm gutted that all the good threads I bookmarked are now lost...the whole point of a forum is to discuss things and refer to them when needed...I've lost a lot of good material.
To close the site with no option to at least copy/paste some of my bookmarked threads is very poor and reflects badly on whoever it was ran the site.
Not impressed.
Can't the owner hand over the reins to any who are willing to keep the site going or at least fund a static copy of it until we get what we want off it?
