New Member Of The Governing Body 24 Jan 2018
by pale.emperor injust seen this announced on reddit:.
ken cook was announced today at morning worship as the new member of the governing body.
i dont recall him from the broadcasts, but he was formally a helper on the writing committee as per https://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/governing-body/.

But I don't think the article was saying the helpers must be of the other sheep - just that they could be. So we can't use that article to conclude that a person must be of the other sheep if they are/were a helper.
No it did if I recall, I'll try and look it out...it said that all the helpers were of the other sheep...I could be wrong but I remember a big post about it on here.
EDIT...here: https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/504950002/which-current-gb-members-part-overlapping-generation

He is not in his early 50's...he must be very late 50's or early 60's according to this post five years ago.
MC RubberMallet5 years ago5 years ago5 years agoIt will be interesting to see who is appointed in the future. One brother I know well was "annointed" at Wallkill, while sitting at this desk, three or four years ago. He was in his early 50's at the time.
This is probabaly covered somewhere else, but, it really makes me wonder what actually happens to these men when they are "annointed". The brother at Wallkill is a hardworking, seemingly normal, married guy. A company man through and through, but reasonable, dry sense of humor. Very academic when it comes to "theocratic" things. What I'm getting at is that he didn't seem to be mentally/emotionally unbalanced or anything and certainly not the type to seek glory. It's just strange. If 5 years ago the person said that another 3/4 years before that they met Cook who was in his early 50's then he is in his very late 50's or early 60's.

Wasnt there an article a while back that mentioned the helpers not being annointed? or am i misremembering that?
Correct there was but that article is years old now but it did say that the helpers were from "the other sheep".
Was in the early 2000's I think thus was this guy a helper then?

Crazy JW Comments On AvoidJW.org
by AverageJoe1 ini read john redwood’s excellent article on avoidjw.org but what was even more mind blowing for me was all the jw comments via disqus at the end of the article:.
http://avoidjw.org/en/news/problems-facing-jw-org/.
they are all the typical lashing out comments based on emotion rather than logical reasoning along with the watchtower apologists thrown in for good measure.. if any of you have a disqus account, then i’d encourage you to have your say.

Funnily enough there was that recent post on here detailing a YouTube channel of an Irish exJW who recently uploaded some good videos and I posted some comments and the amount of JW's on there arguing points against her uploaded video and arguing against my comments were surprising.
How did they see her videos or get to know her channel? It seems a lot "lurk"..

The "Imperfect Men" Argument
by steve2 inone of the most common "defences" of jw organization is that "the brothers" are imperfect yet still strive to follow god's word.
"sure, they make mistakes," so the argument goes, "but so did god's people in the past, including in bible times.
" the key point is their readiness to keep studying god's word and learning from their mistakes.".

The GB members are "just men" and are prone to imperfections like all of us.
They may swear in their head when they hit their toe on the end of their bed...they may do a double-take when a women enters the room with a low cut top (or in Tony's case a man wearing tight pants) etc etc BUT when they come together as the GB, and they pray, and supposedly the great Holy Spirit "directs" (not inspire remember) them to teachings, doctrines or policies then it CAN NEVER be wrong because their imperfections have nothing to do with the Holy Spirit directing them.
If things are wrong it MUST be the Holy Spirits fault and not the GB because they say the Spirit is directing them.
The fact that they get things wrong shows without a shadow of doubt that nothing supernatural or "god like", no divine intervention or any direction comes upon them at all.
They are just imperfect men teaching 8 million people what THEY think the bible means...they are wrong and they are imperfect...but being imperfect has NO bearing...or should not have IF they are "directed" by Holy Shite...er Spirit.
They recently admitted they are not infalliable or inspired thus there is no direction from any higher source....ergo it is a MANS religion.
Game over man...game over...I'm out.

Highly Recommended exJW YouTube Channel
by Sour Grapes ini am a subscriber on youtube for kim and mikey, marc and cora, susan gaskin, stacy lopez, spike r, and several others.
i recently found a channel called anonni mowse and she is just fantastic.
she is so down to earth, very educated, and speaks her mind so clearly about her being in the cult.
