  I used to walk a lot...to work etc...would drop a tract somewhere when I left the house...dropped another at the end...counted the time in between.

  i came across this article written in 2004 by an evangelical.. “when did jerusalem fall?”, rodger young, journal of the evangelical society [jets], 47/1 (march 2004), 21-38.. http://www.rcyoung.org/articles/jerusalem.pdf .

  these are the conclusions of the 18-page analysis.

  (1) jerusalem fell in the fourth month (tammuz) of 587 bc.

  Scholar...care to explain why the WT said it was 606 BCE only to change it to 607 BCE after they found out there was no zero year between 1 BCE and 1CE?

  How could they change the date set in stone in history if it were based on facts? If it were 606 BCE and they realized there was no zero year then they should have changed the date of the end of the prophecy to 1915 CE yet they changed something set in history to ensure 1914 CE.

  Dishonest, you can't change a date in history to your preference unless you are a cult.

  Sorry to be negative but these type of posts make me laugh.

  Because most realize that it DOESNT MATTER what the GB say, it will be lapped up by the dubs.

  Nothing the GB say will wake up a dub on mass...the GB and the dubs fully believe in the "concept" that the GB are chosen by a "God" and therefore it is utterly irrelevant what is actually said in words...its the fact where it comes from determines its "truth" to the dubs.

  If the GB said that to survive the Big A everyone had to have babies with the GB it wouldn't wake up dubs...they would believe because they never question the "content" of what is said from the GB...it is the fact that if the GB say it then its believed.

  I'm playing Devil's Advocate here but we all plan to live our lives until a ripe old age yet cater for a plan if we die unexpectedly.

  I see no difference in the WT applying that to their projects...they do their projects as they are made to last in this system yet they believe today may be the last day of world.

  we know that the serpent in the garden can’t be secretly satan, because the first time satan is mentioned by name is in a story chronologically after this one, and in that, he is said to be walking.

  remember that the serpent was cursed to crawl on his belly all the rest of his days, but in the book of job, satan is still walking around and chatting with god as if they’d never had a falling out.

  this is when god had to ask satan where he’s been, because his infallible omniscience obviously didn’t know.. so if he had to ask that of satan, who is later described as the lord of lies, then why would god believe him?

  Doug....your whole argument is pretty crap...the serpent is NOT Satan...Satan merely used it..you can see the difference yeah?

  So whilst Satan was described as "walking" later in Job compared to the serpent not walking is irrelevant.

  You do understand imagery, metaphors, allegory etc?

  If a still in finds this thread then jeepers they think that exjw's are thick.

  why would the elders, cos, branch committee, helpers to gb and the gb themselves devote their lives to progressing in the organization, if the whole thing is one big sham?

  Read Don Cameron's book "Captives to a Concept", it explains really well their motivation...they are held captive to the concept a god is involved with the GB.

  Once they are held captive to that then that is their motivation.
