Part of the problem with a discussion like this is that no one defines what equal means. I can only think of one important measure where one sex is superior to the other: women have the ability to bring a new life, a new person, into this world. In my view, this makes women superior to men, if we must make such petty categorisations.
Even the ability to not bear children does not make any one person less equal than another. Is a barren woman less equal than a child-bearing woman? Obviously both are equal.
Other than the one reason mentioned above, the reasonings used are much like those used when discussing are blacks and whites really equal?
If you want to figure out if both sexes are equal, think about what equal means and see if you can find any member of both sexes who fits the bill. Chances are, you will.
As far as various skills such as math or language skills, equality is not an issue. Is a person who is poor at math less equal than a person who is skilled at math?
Math and language skills only matter if you are hiring a mathematician or a language expert. And at the point, it does not matter if the person you are hiring is a man or a woman. It is easy to find people of both sexes who are good and bad at any skill. Skill level is generally independent of sex.
I cannot think of any area where being a certain gender guarantees that a person is somehow more equal than the opposite sex. This is simple common sense.
