I find it fascinating that two completely opposite teachings can be taken from the exact same words in the Bible. One would think that if Jehovah was smart enough to create the Universe, He would know enough to ensure that the most important book ever written was written clearly!

I am sure that their reaction would be understandable, but it still would not be appropriate. Should such a poster (assuming he is not trying to make reformed alcoholics drink booze) be ragged for stating that some alcohol is OK for a non-alcoholic? ScoobySnax has not tried to bring anyone back to the Dubs....nor has he attempted to defend the Dubs....he simply likes them and still believes some/all of their teachings. What is wrong with simply stating that?

Sometimes I wonder if you start these threads to troll, but I will assume you are sincere. I enjoy having you on this forum, and I can tell you like the JWs. I am glad that your JW experience was good.

ScoobySnax's experience with the JWs was pleasant. Live with it and be thankful that one person had a positive JW experience.
I think Scooby provides some needed balance on this forum. Scooby has made no pretense at having a reason for liking the JWs, other than that he does. If everyone here was 120% rabidly anti-JW, that would be a problem.
my very jw mother went to my daughter's wedding in a mainstream church this summer.
this is the first time i ever remember her going into a church.
she refused to attend my wedding in a methodist church and also my brother's in a mainstream church.
I became a Dub in '81 and we were allowed to attend weddings and funerals at other Churches, as long as we did not partcipate in anything religious, like praying or kneeling. Basically, the JWs just sit there listening respectfully. Some older Witnesses would still refuse to attend such weddings, a hangover from previous "truths".
So, although there used to be a hard and fast rule about attending weddings, there has not been one for at least 20 years.
If there was nothing wrong with being an NGO of the UN, then why did the Society remove its NGO status after their NGO status was publicized?
