now, the war is over, the weapons were not used and of course have not been found.. how threatening could they be if they did not even use them when being invaded by a massive force (of the countries they hate)?!
perhaps, as many suspect, they didn't use them because they didn't have them?.
now we're being told that we'll have to be patient and give them time to find them.
Francois,
Apparently Simon can permit whatever he wants even if the topic has been beaten into a bloody pulp - like this one so long as HE likes it, but the r&f cannot enjoy it's little thread on a topic Simon doesn't care for without him locking our thread. AND there's no favoritism on this site...in a pig's eye there isn't.
Uh, of course Simon can permit what he wants.....he owns the site. Its a perk of ownership.
Simon, I really don't care if there IS favoritism on this site, but I'd appreciate your having the balls to admit it.
On the whole, Simon admits where he is breaking his own rules. As far as "favortism" goes, Simon is not perfect, but he tries not to show favoritism.
Since this is an anti-US site...
I have not noticed this.
Soooo....can this thread get back on topic now? The topic is WoMD....
i am new to the board and have read countless gripes and pokes at "the organization" but i fail to find one interesting question.. in preface... i was disfellowshiped myself over 5 years ago.
in that time, i had done much searching, visited many churches and faithes.. going to some for as short as one session and some as long as 6 - 8 months.
after i felt my search was in vein i stopped attempting to go to these shurches all together.. i never forgot how to pray through.
Through the gripes,.... Through the pokes and making fun of....Do you feel as though you did learn something while you were there through.... ?
Definitely. The Theocratic Ministry School was life-changing for me as it taught me public speaking.
The door-to-door work taught me how to knock on any door, for any reason.
Being a JW taught me not to be ashamed of who I am. People can take me or leave me. I am who I claim to be. Whether people accept me or not is their problem, not mine.
All of these things have proven invaluable.
i'm going to be offline for quite a while.
i'm moving this weekend and the computer i use belongs to my sister.
since i will no longer be living with her i won't have daily access to a computer.
Hey, Aztec! I will miss you!
a couple days ago minimus asked the question (anyone notice he's always asking questions?
me: snobbery, ignorance, flourescent lighting and hands that are shedding innocent blood.

People who play on and manipulates the emotions & hearts of others; intentionally and willfully - for their own gain. (whatever it maybe).Condescending people.
Those are my turn-offs too.
People who purposely have to frustrate others or ruin things.
People who deliberately hurt innocent people.
People who repeatedly do the same stupid thing and end up in the same stupid position that they were when they did the same stupid thing the last time.
People who feel that everyone else has to live according to their standards...those who are not open minded enough to realize that people can hold opposite opinions or live in different ways.
you know the type, the ones that say, "oh yes.
i tried to not believe in god..." or "when i left the jws i became an atheist, but since i found jesus..." simply put, i don't believe them.
i don't think they ever really stopped believing in god.
The theist says I can prove that god does exist and the atheist says I can prove that god does not exist.
I don't know any atheists who claim to prove that God does not exist. Most will claim that the probability of God existing is so close to zero that it might as well be zero.

Some people become atheists for similar reasons that others become Christians. In talking with such atheists, the reasons include: "my Christian father beat the crap out of my atheist mother"; "my parents were atheists", "God is a bastard", etc.
People who are atheists for the above reasons can be converted to belief in God fairly easily, as their atheism is basically a religious belief or an emotional response.
Others become atheists because they see logical inconsistencies that believing in God would require. They base their belief on solid evidence and are willing to seek out and challenge inconsistencies in their beliefs. They also tend to have a good understanding of the scientific process and understand the makings of a good logical argument.
These atheists are much more difficult to convert to a belief in God. They can be, but it is more difficult.
.
i would be interested in hearing a few.
for the life of me (pun intended) i can't think of any good ones.. robyn
Robyn, hang in there.
I IMed you about a different topic before reading this thread. IM me, maybe I can cheer you up, which will help make up for the times you cheered me up.
I have edited this post to keep my enemies from having too much information.
They are still at it, aren't they? Robyn, you and me are both very open people, and they make posting here for you and me and a few others a pain in the glass. God knows what they will use to insult you, or what post of mine they will twist out of context months later. I have healed to the point where they are insignificant gnats on a wart in my eyes. Hopefully, you will reach that point too. Still, there is no need to expose yourself needlessly to harm. I have been fortunate enough to turn the negative experiences they gave me into several positive ones.
Robyn, you are a good person, and never forget that. I have an idea of what is causing how you feel, and it will pass. If you wish, talk to me.

ok, maybe not a real scandal, but this really bugs the hell out of me!
in short, the kingdom hall i went to as child and teen, is being sold to a church.
my mother (still active) informed me of this.
The Society also gave direction recently in a QFR about buying property from another religion. Basically, they view it as a 'business deal' and the only thing they frown on is "socializing" with the sellers. So you can do business with them, just don't be too friendly.
WOW! Can you get me a copy of the QFR? Isn't doing repair work on a church simply "a business deal"? Since when can a JW have direct business dealings with a church? And if an individual cannot have direct business dealings with a church, then why can the congregation or the Society? Funny, you can't work one time on the heating system of a church for your employer who is Honeywell Corporation. But the local congregation can sell a KH to a church? Or buy a church from another religion?
It never fails to amaze me how strict the religion is on the individual, and how lenient it is on the Society itself. And how "new light" comes just when the Society gets some benefit from it. Nice to know that Jehovah lets $$ rule.
I remember getting told that I cannot bid on a old military truck, simply because I would be purchasing it from the military. Even if I got it for $1, it was still "wrong" because that $1 would be contributing towards the military. My reply was that reasoning was silly. I guess I should have tried to purchase a huge building for hundreds of thousands of dollars instead.

many of you know that my husband's work is fixing hail damage in cars, and that we have traveled for 10 years from colorado, texas, ok, kansas, etc.
but those mainly were his best contacts , and also all jw's in the business.. last summer one of our best contacts who lives in co, called to tell my husband that he had a hail storm hit that very day, and said that since he has d/a himself he will no longer work him.
i understand that some may not let their conscience do that being firm jw believers.
Excellent points, Pistoff. Food for thought.
