That this happened on the night that there was going to be an announcement disfellowshipping a mentally ill man might make some stop and think... Shouldn't there be more help for those suffering from mental health problems, before something terrible happens? Maybe disfellowshipping isn't a loving provision after all? At the same time, our hearts feel compassion for the victims, including an unborn baby, and the suffering of those who were harmed at that meeting. Could have been any of us were we still attending. Thoughts and prayers.

How many Grandparents in your Hall?
by Riley ini am technically involved with a hall that has never few young ones and lots of older childless ones.
or if they have children , their children haven’t had any children.
very weird stuff.

We served in foreign language congregations where there were few children, or ours were the only one (eventually we had two) that were "born in".
Older and childless brothers and sisters, especially sisters, would sometimes feel the need to insert themselves in a "grandparent" role. My sons generally did not like this.
Your duty of care is primarily to your children, and you have to do what's best for them. Don't let anyone pressure you into something that you feel as a parent to be wrong for your child.

JWs near of losing their status a religious organization in Norway
by Festus inlast spring norweigian state refused to give public contribution to jws (religious organisations can apply that in norway and previously wtbs has been granted that).
the decision was caused because of practise of disfellowshpiping.. now there is a new twist.. 25.10.2022 authorites in norway send a letter to wtbs and told them that they have four weeks to fix that practise.
if they don't do that they will loose their status as a religiouse organisation.. intrestingly jws did not "understand" what authorites meant by that and requested more time.. how can they not understand?

More governments are realizing that shunning is inhumane and causes huge psychological harm.
Freedom from religious persecution doesn't give a religion the right to destroy lives.
And the numbers of shunned individuals keep growing while the reasons for which they are shunned seem increasingly unreasonable and unconscionable.

WT Style Pacificism
by Sea Breeze inepisode 203 of netflix ... i am a killer looks at the murder of christopher chavez in texas.
christopher chavez was a 22 year old ministerial servant and a born-in son of an jw elder.
after a thursday night meeting and a quick bite to eat afterwards with friends at a local restaurant, he was kidnapped, taken to a gas station and forced to drive his killers around for hours while they were in the back seat.

We left when my eldest son was 14, and shortly after, the thing he told me he hated most about the JWs was that they were turning him into a p&$$# - a weakling. After leaving, both my sons wanted to go to gyms where they could essentially learn to defend themselves as well as blow off steam. I have since learned that hard workouts are a good way to get over the trauma stored inside myself from the JW years. I regret so much. At least after leaving, we can rebuild our self-respect and learn to defend ourselves as needed.

Another Bad Egg
by jonahstourguide inhi folks.. just another case to prove that the tower organisation has creeps that other organisations do.. they are not special or chosen by god.
i wonder if it will make mainstream new here in oz.
i will paste some of the article in a few minutes.. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahukewi1qogytuv5ahutsmwghv69ab0qfnoecaoqaq&url=https%3a%2f%2fwww.portstephensexaminer.com.au%2fstory%2f7880595%2fqld-parishioner-charged-with-rape-torture%2f%3fcs%3d7&usg=aovvaw3yd9rimx8sarai1vnbehev.

ThomasMore,
Speaking out will get you DF'd - period.
When you say the above, do you mean that the person who "speaks out" gets charged with "slander" which is a disfellowshipping offense, or is the punishment related to "spreading disunity" because of continuing to talk about something which is "not upbuilding"?
I've been "out" of the organization for a while, and am wondering if this is part of cracking down on dissent...

Sexual abuse and Jehovah's witnesses- the gift that keep on giving
by wannaexit inthere seems to be no end to the many jw's who sexually abused minors.
here is another story:.

The "two-witness rule" being applied to child abuse cases is bad enough. The way they won't allow consecutive victims to be counted as more than two witnesses causes further insult to victims and causes reasonable people to disbelieve in God - how's that for a stumbling block?

Just popped up in my YouTube feed…
by Biahi inkingdom hall raided by police.
fresno county (ca?
) looking into a man named escobedo, for child molestation, groping, and rape, against at least 10 victims.
-

You would think that even the "two witness rule" would establish guilt after a second consecutive complainant came forward. Instead, they allow "conduct to progress" from inappropriate behaviors to molestation to rape, just because each consecutive complainant was alone. Sad.

Watchtower looses Norwegian Appeal
by Diogenesister inwatchtower has just lost its appeal in the norwegian courts over the withdrawal of the funding it receives from the government as an officially recognised religion.
the initial decision will now stand due to what the court termed 'exclusionary practices' which includes the witnesses barbaric practice of shunning minors, even by family members in their own homes.
the ministry of children and families have decided they are now no longer eligible for the state grant of 16 million norwegian kroner given to officially recognised religions.. the following is a statement has been issued, i have summarised if it isn't readable: .

Hooray for Norway! Shunning of minors is so obviously harmful psychologically and only makes them hate the religion. Not the "loving way to bring them back to Jehovah" that members claim it to be. Now if only there was a way to petition other governments to follow suit by removing tax exemptions for congregation properties and donations.

Fun fact - the more you suppress healthy sexuality and the more isolated and paranoid people become, the more perversity develops. I remember sitting in a Kingdom Hall when the circuit overseer was lecturing against oral sex and the feeling of tension in the audience - if THAT kind of thing is THAT bad, then everyone wants it all the more! Most secular people are less tantalized by depravity because they don't fear the dirty devil in themselves and others and obsess over it.
