steve2, I understand your perspective and I appreciate the constructive criticism. It wasn't my intention to corner them, and I'll consider that if I engage in any "anti-witnessing" in the future. That being said, I don't agree that Morpheus "cornered" me: he threw a variety of belligerent ad hominem attacks at me that included very little of substance except attacks on my person.
sparrowdown, I just wanted to make them aware of the movement's problem with child abuse, since the movement itself isn't making them aware of it. I don't expect them to do anything, I just don't like the movement's leadership concealing it from them.
scratchme1010, that's fair, and I've never worked in that field so I wasn't aware of that. I just find it irritating that Jehovah's Witnesses want to go "preach the word" and then won't talk about anything of substance. Although, maybe I should expect that by now, ha.

Morpheus, I don't appreciate your personal attacks which are malicious and false. I tried to tell two people about child abuse, that's it. Mind your own if you're going to be an ass. Ever heard of constructive criticosm? Morpheus, you don't know a thing about my self esteem, want me to make ungrounded claims about you?
It's insane to look it up on the spot? Please, they're out there looking for conversations and yet they avoid the subject.
I didn't shout, I didn't curse them out, I asked a simple question and got hostility back, just like I'm getting from you.
And dunadein, why would I do something like that? A simple question on my part turns into a barrage of insults from you.

So I'm downtown and I see two JWs hanging out on a bench by a cart. I approached them and said, I saw you guys on the news, there was a child abuse cover-up in Philadelphia. They don't respond and just look at me. I go, You don't want to talk about that? I find that disturbing. The woman says snidely, Well how could I talk about it if I haven't seen it? I said you could look it up on your phone, she was looking at her phone right there. I'll look it up later she says. I said No you won't and I walked off.
What incredible gall.

I don't understand why other 'witnesses' cannot count as an implicit form of 'testifying.' Isn't psychological trauma a witness to what happened? Nightmares, panic attacks? Bruising? It boggles the mind.

The consensus seems to be that $300 is way too much. I'm going to bet it's closer to 200 if that, I'm going to go check my notes to see exactly what the circuit overseer told me back in 2015. He was very forthcoming to the extent the one of the elders wives who caught the end of the conversation tried to get the information out of me.

So guess who got the run-around today from Bethel? I got redirected to four different people, finally get to the Bethel office, guy puts me on hold for 15 minutes, and comes back with the most vague, nonsensical answer I've ever heard. We're all volunteers, we don't receive any income, no salary, we can be reimbursed. When I press for the amount of reimbursement he says that's all we can tell you. Incredible.

It seems like from what everyone's saying that 300 sound awfully high and that the amount is probably closer to 200 if that. I'll let you know what happens when I ask tomorrow, I got home to late to call.
JW_Researcher, that sounds... rough, to say the least. I've heard of G-Jobs, but I mean, having to work side jobs just to survive when you're working for a multi-million dollar corporation sounds pretty awful.
