Just wishful thinking and probably the longing to know they're not making so many sacrifices for nothing. Fundamentalist Baptists are the same way, a preacher I heard said one Sunday he heard a train whistle in the middle of the night and thought it was an angel blowing a trumpet to signal Jesus return or something like that.

Armageddon has started in Astoria, Queens
by ShirleyW innow we know that the con ed plant in astoria, queens had an explosion, but before anyone knew what the heck was going on, so many people were posting on social media their pictures of the "strange blue circle light" that was in the sky this evening, usually st. johns which is near me has a fireworks display after a game, i thought this doesn't look like fireworks, much brighter and no sound, it actually looked like it was 4pm in the afternoon right before the sun leaves the sky.. i live in the jamaica section of queens (just up from trump's foot dr. if you saw that article in nytimes.
com the other day) and haven't lost power but laguardia is dark now, no flights in are out.
just wondering how the old school dubs that saw the lights outside window, thought "finally, the big a is here" !.

These days it not really that hard being a witness.
by I believe in overlapping inif you are a true believer, then you are toast.
because you will be a slave to everything the watchtower, circuit overseers, elders, pioneers, imply.
believe me, there are not many true believers anymore, and the majority of them are old.

Perry, your claims are bunk and so are Habermas's. I'm not surprised by anything you said, I've heard it all before in one form or another during the 16 years my family raised me as a fundamentalist. It didn't convince me then, it doesn't convince me now. Please stop proselytizing on this forum.

That's a creepy thing to say, isn't it? He's threatening the guy!
He said: One day in the new system, I'm gonna live in this big house
Translation: Soon God will kill you at Armageddon and Ill take your empty home.

Perry: no, you can't. Those are all based on whether or not you accept the gospels and some other New Testament texts as true... which I don't. I've been around and around in circles with apologists before on this site and you've already taken the thread far off track, so, peace out.

I haven't watched the video but I've read through and heard a ton of these apologetic arguments during my time as a fundamentalist Baptist. They're not convincing, there's no tomb attested to before the 4th century when Constantine's crazy mother went to Jerusalem and found everything from Jesus' cross to John the Baptist's sandals (kidding about the last one).
Did early apostles claim Jesus was resurrected? They did. Why did they claim he was resurrected? Because by reading into Old Testament scriptures through an allegorical lens they reached that conclusion, read the first couple chapters of Hebrews for example. There is very little evidence of a historical Jesus (Josephus was tampered with probably by the church father Eusebius in the 4th century, I can go into more detail) or any historical 12 (a late legend given away by numerous lines of evidencs I can also go into, the twelve play next to no role in the earliest gospel Mark or any other, most are just names on a page, and there's enough of their bones floating around to build a Brontosaurus).
I've read on this stuff for years, and trust me: I wanted to believe it. It's not believable.

I heard one at the first assembly I attended that some girl's classmates waited until the teacher stepped out and pulled out a Ouija board and tried to get the girl (Sheila maybe?) to play with it, but she didn't and she was glad because later they appeared 'demonized.'
Oh and then a CO said a lesbian 'stalked' a Sister in their territory.
Yep, totally believable.
