Well said, zeb. That's the life they offer you: their literature, read up they say, and dream about paradise when paradise is right outside your door, spread out to the sky. You're not rambling, WilluDFme: you're getting real with us. Don't stop.

Emotional Moment...
by babygirl30 inyesterday i was looking to share a pic with a friend of mine, and i swore it was in my photo albums (i have 3).
so i start going through them, and i see so many jw pics!
i had a huge group of friends when i was 'in', and so there is just pic after pic of assemblies, dinners, game nights, rbc projects, my family and the house i grew up in, people from the hall, etc.

I had a moment like that on New Year's Eve, too. Those kind of moments are deeply personal and meaningful, look how far you've come, look at who you are now. That's something to be proud of. You should be proud of yourself.

Capitalizing names
by john.prestor injust a random thought here but does anyone else notice than when the name "elder" or "circuit overseer" appears in the organization's magazines and books they're always lower case even though they're proper nouns and should be elder and circuit overseer... but branch committee member, governing body helper, governing body member, they get to be capitalized.
another subtle indication of how the governing body and other high-ranking elites see themselves, i think.

I mean I get what you're getting at but do you get what I mean about the ranking it subtly constructs? The kinda comparative thing? Other faiths capitalize Elder, the Mormons for example, and most Elders aren't that old.

New JW phrase: bouquet of truth
by ohnightdivine ini heard it from someone who attended the latest wt study, and quickly posted it with - you guessed it - a picture of a lovely flower bouquet.
.
"how big is your bouquet of truth?".

I love how they dress up their scare tactics and their empty promises. Why can't they be them, own them, be honest with themselves and others? So cowardly. Like sparky1 said, bouquet of truth my ass.

No way, no, no no. They're using Andre again? These people are great. They just stick an s on the end of the guy's name and print another one of their bogus stories, I just read the article, there's not a surname, a town, a street, anything, in the entire article.

How was your Hoilday?
by Still Totally ADD inours was great.
for the first time we had christmas with our youngest son and his family.
it was all their first christmas and what a fun and happy time we had.

StillADD, that's wonderful, I'm so happy for you. They're gonna remember that too, your kids, your grandkids, all of them. You're making them come alive like a Christmas tree lit from top to bottom. That is a dream come true.
My family is my family and I finally accepted that, I went home and spent a few days with them and while I can't stay long for my own sake I enjoyed their company, let myself enjoy their company and showed them respect, I didn't take out my phone and start texting all the time, I asked them about them. My cousin grabbed me in a bearhug and lifted me up in the kitchen and said how much he missed me. Heck, even my brother, who I posted about on here, talked to me with others and then one on one for a pretty long time throughout the day and when we parted ways I pulled him into a hug and he looked happy and felt happy, I could tell, and so was I. It doesn't make everything right again, it can't but... it's a start, maybe.
Kathy1978, sounds like you had a great holiday yourself, too. Kids are great, aren't they? They're so full of life.
