Jehovah's Witnesses Called At My Door
by Roger Kirkpatrick inlast saturday morning, i answered a knock at my door to see a man standing next to a young boy who handed me a pamphlet posing the question, "how do you view the bible?
would you say it is (1) a book of human wisdom?
(2) a book of myths and legends?

The King of the North has now entered into the 'land of decoration' (the Spiritual Estate of Jehovah's People) - Annual Meeting
by Listener inthe final part of the october, 2018 annual meeting has now been released of jw org tv.the following includes a transcript of mark sanderson's speech for those that don't want to listen to the broadcast.. we have long held that the land of decoration is the "spiritual estate of jehovah's people"... now brothers what can we say about all these events that have taken place (referring to recent events in russia) in such a short period of time?
well, truly, if you're a student of the history of god's organization, you can say these events are unprecedented in our history.
we've never seen a country or a territory with 175,000 witnesses of jehovah go under ban.

Commissioned 10 years ago? I glanced through the thing and it doesn't look like it took even half that time. I mean what do I know, I don't run a publishing company. But to me that just comes across like they're tooting their own horn. Did one of them actually say that, The Fall Guy?

Something I always found strange about JW baptisms is how everybody rushes out the door for lunch or a cup of coffee like they couldnt care less about the people getting baptized to save their soul from Jehovah's fiery wrath. Other Christian faiths tend to make a big deal out of baptisms, they perform them in front of a crowd of onlookers, maybe even hold a special service or mass just for the occasion. Yet JWs shove them off to the side at any convention I've been at and pretty much your family and maybe a few others look on at a distance. Just another way they devalue and depreciate the individual.

ScenicViewer, maybe Andre needed to get his time in so he just just listened to the OP defend his thesis. Seriously though, it sounds like something out of Awake!

The OP posted one of these before and it sounded just as contrived and ridiculous as this one. Look, if he's telling the truth power to him but I don't think he is, it's like he sits down and writes out a script that's totally unbelievable and then copy and pastes it here for commendation or attention. We all know Jehovah's Witnesses don't let you question them for very long before they sidetrack you with some off topic question or pretend they don't understand your argument or make up a lame excuse like they got to get back to the car.
Let me just come right out and say what I'm getting at: I don't believe this actually happened. Hell, I'll say it even more directly: this didn't happen.

That's basically the same advice they give at every convention and every assembly, except the hiding your Bible thing, although a Sster I knew a few years back told me she intended to hide her Bible in a bag of peas in her freezer, and that idea didn't just occur to her in a vacuum. Don't they have anything new?

I think they just don't want to hit you right off the bat with everybody dying at Armageddon except for them, that sounds a little... grim, for chapter 7, you probably know the guy you're studying with for like a month or two at that point... might turn some people off to the whole baptism thing.

Just peeking in for a bit...
by Jidders ini rather apprehensively would like to say hello.. i've been raised somewhat in the truth, one of my parents is rather rather strong in the beliefs but could honestly be considered pomi with how active they are and their side of the family comes from a line of witnesses, the other parent was but faded a long time ago.
as such i was taught quite a bit of jw teachings between family and off and on again bible studies.
recently i had a serious emotional break down over a few months after said pomi parent had advised me that they would not attend my wedding should that day come (i also had recieved a text from my bible teacher i hadnt heard from in a year or two giving a scripture) and it sorta all sank on me that my activity over the last few years was not really jw material.

They say it over and over Jidders both because they're a one-trick pony so to say and because if they don't repeat their nonsense over and over you'll stop believing it pretty fast, it doesn't connect to reality in any meaningful way, they're building sandcastles on the beach that the tide of reason and experience can and will take out real quick.

Jitters, I want to say this absolutely clearly: throughout history people who don't want others to see the truth about themselves always discourage them from reading sources they didn't produce. This isn't just true of JW's, I'm gonna quote a poem by Ephraim Syrus, he's an early Catholic 'church father' who wrote in the 4th century:
The Lord will bless you oh faithful church, for you are not concealing the book of the insane Marcion, nor the books of the mad Mani
Might not rhyme in English but you get the point. Ephrem's telling his congregation not to read people who disagree with him. Remember, the Catholic 'church fathers' claim that the canonical gospels came from the apostles, which makes them the only true Gospels. This disqualifies all competing Christian faiths at the time (many existed l, few survived), and elevates the Catholic Church. But Marcion and Mani wrote in those books mentioned in the poem that the apostles didn't write the canonical gospels, which of course undermines the Catholic Church fathers' claims to Authority. Obviously, Ephraim wouldn't want his congregation reading that.
If a group tells you not to read their critics or at least not look at the evidence themselves, they admit in doing so that they don't even believe what they say. Don't listen to these people anymore. Hell, dont listen to me either except what I'm gonna tell you right now:
Listen to yourself. Go out and do the research, don't take my word for it, dont take our word for it, go to sites like jwfacts.com, you can find PDFs of some of Russell and Rutherfords works online, there's also a lot of good scholarly work on Jehovah's Witnesses too. If you want some places to start PM me. Best of luck on your journey. You're doing great already.
