The Watchtower study conductors genuinely impressed me with how they spoke and dressed and carried themselves, they came across as charismatic and kind and pretty quick with an answer to anything. The other Elders, not so much. Most came across as ordinary men, some seemed pleasant enough, some gave off a kinda... petty, arrogant vibe, I don't know how else to put it.

TobyJones, yeah I think that is the official doctrine right now, there's going to be a cry of peace and security, the governments decide religion's dangerous and they got to get rid of it, they go after religious people and organizations, Jehovah's Witnesses manage to survive somehow (maybe underground kind of like in those bizarre bunker videos from 2016) they come for them last, Jehovah intervenes and slaughters them, voila, paradise!

Infiltrated Elders?
by john.prestor inso i'm watching john cedars commentary on the annual meeting from this last october, and at one point he shows a clip of garrett loesch talking about the struggles jehovah's witnesses faced decades before in the soviet union.
he claimed that police officers, maybe the kgb, infiltrated congregations which met in secret by studying with jehovah's witnesses, getting baptized, and then working their way up to becoming elders.
ceders jokes that this shows what kind of role holy spirit actually plays within body of elders, but another interpretation came to my mind just now.

Since when does a slave appoint itself over anything???
by Roger Kirkpatrick inat matthew 24:45, where jesus discussed the faithful and discreet slave, he gave only two identifying features of that slave.
(1) providing the master’s domestics food at the proper time; and, (2) after having done so, being appointed by the master himself over all the master’s belongings.. since current watchtower teaching is that the appointment over all the master’s belongings is yet future and that such appointment is to be made by the master himself, how does the governing body of jehovah’s witnesses account for the fact that it has preemptively identified itself as that faithful and discreet slave?.
surely there remains among believing jws some who can discern the problem with this teaching!

The very fact that they speak of a slave who tells them what to do struck me immediately, pretty much the moment I went in the door for my first "meeting" and heard Witnesses say that, as nakedly Orwellian.

Tantalum, could not say it better myself. Dial 911, tell them a kid says someone molested them, cooperate with the cops. How hard is that? But they don't wanna 'bring reproach on Jehovah's name,' which is just code for Look bad to outsiders.

Remember this: you woke yourself up and you didnt have to, and that says something about your character and resolve. You decided to wake up and face reality instead of staying in denial all your life like so many others. I, too, made that decision slowly as a teenager waking up in a fundamentalist Baptist church. You should feel anger towards these people, although as time passes try your best to let that anger go and live your life like you talk about, and I'm talking to myself here as much as you, my anger comes and goes, but lately I feel a newfound optimism and joy in living. Express yourself, meet people, connect with your kids, connect with yourself. You got this. You're stronger than you know. And you're not rambling: trust me, I know what you're going through, and you need to share your thoughts and feelings you share them anytime.
