Ending Bible Study
by Maria Nieves ini have been studying with jehovah's witnesses for approximately two years.
initially, i liked the studies and felt that i was growing closer to god.
however, as the studies progressed, they seemed to become increasingly negative and i did not like what i was being taught.

False Predictions
by Sea Breeze inwhat you will not be told at the door bythe jehovah’s witnesses.
the jehovah’s witness (or watchtower bible and tract society) have made the followingpredictions which appear in their own literature:.
1. that jesus would return by 1874. when jesus failed to appear, the witnesses claimedthat it was an unseen, spiritual return.

It's like Jehovah's Witnesses suffer from this bizarre collective amnesia where they just forgot that they hear the same thing all their life and heard it for years if not decades. Personally, I think they either tune it out because they hear it so often or more likely if they call it to mind they get embarrassed that they believed these kind of prophecies so when they fail it's easier to just pretend they never believed them and the leadership never said them because the alternative means feeling gullible or, and this one's even scarier, maybe the faithful slave don't know what they're talking about. And then they go on to dupe others whether they mean to or not, and make excuses to themselves like Even if it's not true it's still the best way of life, that kind of thing. Which is patent nonsense...

Perfect response
by Cerise ini was hoping to get some advice on what to say to a parent who wouldn’t support you to get married to a “worldy person”.
always bringing up “marry only in the lord” even when that hasnt worked out for the parent, twice divorced lol.
is there a way to discredit that scripture or argue back respectfully without giving away that you are pimo?.

What does marry in the Lord even mean? It's vague, if Paul (or whoever stuck that into Paul) meant Only marry believers why didn't he just say Only marry believers. And frankly, who cares what Paul said? Paul also said All things are lawful for me. So marry who you want: all things are lawful for you too.

back injury and nightmares.
by zeb ini have a recurring back injury that has spared me for some time but has returned and the results are nightmares of the 'stephen king' order.
my guess its nerve damage causing 'short circuits'.. am seeing the chiro tomorrow.. anyone else had this?.
-

When I get stressed out I tend to have nightmares, they're not full on Stephen King-esque. Once in awhile I get sleep paralysis, and I saw the clown from It one night in my grandparents' guest room, scared the hell outta me. All that to say you're not alone, and the nightmares should go away with the pain.

Take the opportunity to celebrate their birthday with them, just the two of you, at home or wherever they want to go, a restaurant, a park, anything that makes them feel alive and important to you. When your husband sees how happy they are, that's gonna make a difference. Theology is mental: happiness is visceral. And the fact that he's not fighting you over celebrating says something about his character. Leave the failed predictions aside for now and focus, like you're doing, on connecting with him emotionally. You got this. -

Jehovah's Witness parents prevent blood transfusions for three children
by Not_Culty infeb 26 2019 jehovah's witness parents prevent blood transfusions for three children.
the father said he was entitled to refuse to consent to the administering of a blood transfusion as he firmly believed that there were "medically acceptable alternatives that are as effective, if not more effective".. https://www.timeslive.co.za/news/south-africa/2019-02-26-jehovahs-witness-parents-prevent-blood-transfusions-for--three-children/.

I don't mind them getting their kids alternative medical treatment if it's just as effective or close to it, but yes, if it's a much lower chance doctor should make them go with a blood tranfusion. We're past the point of talking about invisible figures in the sky when it comes right down to a life or death situation.

"Dog bites religious books on South Florida beach, but his owner gets put in the doghouse"
by ShirleyW inthe thing that stands out about this story is and i italicized below is, the jw said he had a permit, which i really, really, really, have a strong feeling that this is the biggest lie told on the planet, dubs just set those damn carts down wherever they please, step back about five feet from them and start looking at their phones are gossiping with their pioneer partner about everyone else in the cong while getting their hours in.. man's best friend also proved to be his best accomplice in the case of a marathon man and his french bulldog butterbean.edgar wallis jones, 59, was walking his dog on sombrero beach feb. 6 at 11:30 a.m. jones approached a jehovah's witness who had a cart filled with religious literature set up near a pavilion.he told the man that he was not allowed on city or state property with religious books.
the victim responded that he had a permit and that they were free.jones said if the literature was free, he would take all of it.
he grabbed the cart while butterbean began chewing on some of the books.

The awful treatment of my disfellowshipped cousin still continues
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy cousin was disfellowshipped twenty years ago when he was 18 years old.
he admitted to the congregation elders that he was fornicating with his ''wordly'' girlfriend.
the elders were following him and hiding in their cars to see what he was up to.
