  Any ideas about what the ‘special’ talk is on Memorial Day?

  the family are very excited because there’s a special interruption happening this friday which has supposedly only happened once before when rutherford announced jesus’ ruling in heaven.

  today the "anointed" sister that drops off tracts at my house, did a little i'll just stop by and show her a website about furniture and then offer the memorial tract visit.. her exhusband is a jw that did terrible things to her by taking property, didn't want to pay adequate child support and had the elders on his side.

  she was telling me all about how, because he felt so guilty, now he had intestinal problems.

  eventually the conversation ended and she offered the memorial tract to me.. "did you get an invitation?

  JWs & Scientology

  i've been trying to learn more about how scientology works in regard to how they investigate, interrogate, and discipline their members, and how similar their methods are to jehovah's witnesses.

  i am currently pimo, and while i have never faced a judicial committee, the elders have tried to investigate me.

  i won't go into detail, but basically it was just a case of me not wanting to reach out like they wanted me to.

  You're picking up on the fact that they read you, they read your body language, maybe even read your expressions. I guess I thought they only did that with me, I got dragged into the back room while I was studying a congregation one time, I wasn't even a Jehovah's Witness just a researcher, and while Elder 1 sat across the table questioning me Elder 2 sat to my right staring intently at my face, trying to make sure I didn't lie I guess. It creeped me out.

  so here is something else that helped me wake up -.

  the elders manual - shepherd the flock of god contains a special caveat for elders who have committed adultery some time ago (not sure how many years, 'some time ago' is, but probably based on a complex formula of donations and # of assembly parts given.).

  but basically, they can just get a talking to by 2 brothers and then they can keep on keeping on.

  Incognito, I'm with you 100%, the cover-up looks way worse than actually reporting the guy to the cops. But you're thinking far ahead, and the Elders who silenced victims thought about tomorrow. And I doubt they expected the victims to go to the cops, they figured they could nip it in the bud right there.

  Why do some JWs love seeing others get disfellowshipped?

  i'm not sure how many in the organization is like this, but there some jws who love seeing others get disfellowshipped, and my father-in-law is one of those.

  he became a jw because he loved the idea of being the head of the household, and lording it over his family.

  as a jw he is very hypocritical, my husband would tell stories of how they would celebrate christmas until his mother-in-law called him on it.

  It's sadistic, that's what it comes down to. The organization teaches them to anticipate 'wicked' people dying at Armageddon, and it's not hard to let that kind of thinking spill over into other areas of your life.

  Assemblies always seem to cost a fortune even when nothing ever happens that should cost a dime (I get utilities, but that doesn't come to 12k for a weekend). They dont even serve food anymore.

  does anyone know, do all of the society owned assembly halls in the us have bethelites assigned as caretakers or assembly hall overseers?.

  I dont know if the man I met came from Bethel, but I met an Assembly Hall overseer back around 2010 in Upstate New York who lived on the property in a little house or maybe apartment with his wife. Elsewhere, I dunno.
