Russia v. Jehovah's Witnesses

Jehovah's Witnesses are not extremists, they're certainly not militant, and they're no active threat to anyone. That doesn't mean that some of their beliefs or practices don't cause serious harm to people, especially the Governing Body's ban on blood transfusions.

I understand the desire to know who is accusing you, but because it's JWs who have a history of punishing victims of sexual abuse... I'm suspicious of their motives.

Will you be giving a 'Witness' when your name appears in the obituary?
by was a new boy in'he remained faithful to jehovah up to his death.'.
i guess that means he never got in trouble with the elders.. .
'he enjoyed spreading the good news about god's kingdom and helping others...'.

It's tacky doing that, isn't it? I get that being a JW mattered to the guy, but... it comes across as tasteless.

Drastic Upcoming Changes? (accelerated by the pandemic)
by JWTom ingood to see you again!
much discussion now about the fallout that is coming due to impacts of the pandemic combined with the long-term downward spiral of jw.org.
i am active as a pimo and my wife is pimi....much of our personal conversation and conversation with others in jw land focuses on how things will play out for jw.org in the next 12-24 months.

They'll go right back to what they were doing when this thing ends, as sure as they're sure they won't be sued. It's too difficult to keep people connected and motivated if they aren't interacting with each other.

Transparency Questions
by Vanderhoven7 inhere are some questions to ask witnesses.
how would you alter or improve or add to them?.
transparency questions.

john.prestor
Good luck asking more than one of those questions to a JW :P They'll turn tail and run, or try to turn the tables on you ("How do you know so much about us?")

Research question
by JeffT ini'm doing a little background research for a novel.
what is the craziest thing you heard a witness say was demonized, and what did they do about it?.
-
john.prestor
I was told by "apostate" protesters in Upstate New York that Witnesses feared the very seats they sat in were demonized.

Before Sumerian times, there's no writings, so it's difficult to know what people believed or practiced. There are much older depictions of hybrid beasts, as Anony Mous points out, which probably hint at some kind of mythology.
