  we were all taught that "real" christianity was lost to history and was only restored once russell and then rutherford restored it so that the wt could be appointed as god's "mouthpiece".

  but, aristides wrote to the emperor hadrian and gave a pretty good synopsis of core christian belief in 125 ad.

  I don't care if they're widely considered genuine, they're fake. They were supposedly written by a guy who was being taken off to be executed for being a Christian... and his captors allowed him to proselytize on the way? Somehow I doubt that. The forger is probably Polycarp himself.

  and one of my jw relatives said they were told by some elders that meetings and field service will resume before the end of the year.. they said this covid virus was a test, like when the romans breached jerusalem and retreated, only to come back later and sack jerusalem.

  I expect that regional conventions will be back next summer, and that door-to-door preaching will be back before that. It's no test of course, but that doesn't mean the Governing Body won't bring those in-person activities back as soon as they think they won't get sued or endure bad press. They need occasions like that to tie the congregation together emotionally.

  every once in a while someone will post a video or a talk that was heard that shows how weird the watchtower society really is.

  governing body vids are usually interesting or animated cartoons showing how strange the cult is entertaining.
