Yeah, I guess it's OK that 85% of NIH papers are not reproducible. It's just your tax dollars at work.

A crisis of scientific reproducability
by Outahere inhttps://www.nature.com/news/1-500-scientists-lift-the-lid-on-reproducibility-1.19970.
more than 70% of researchers have tried and failed to reproduce another scientist's experiments, and more than half have failed to reproduce their own experiments.
i didn't know it was so widespread...but it's a big problem in biology/medicine..

I suppose the reproducibility could be considered more or less of an issue depending on the field of science.
But when it's in supposedly highly controlled laboratory conditions, and when the results can often lead to the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars (not to mention lives), that it truly becomes problematic.
The great majority of landmark cancer papers were found to be unreproducible by Amgen.

The Dark-Skinned Early Briton.
by fulltimestudent ini'm sure many others noted in yesterday's news feeds, that scientists deciphering the dna of the skeleton remains of a man thought to have died some 10,000 years ago in the south of england, have presented him as:.
as blue-eyed (now that's quite english) but as dark skinned.
and, that's not very english, to the horror of many.. (link: https://news.nationalgeographic.com/2018/02/ancient-face-cheddar-man-reconstructed-dna-spd/ ).

They've found remains in Spain also dating back 10-15 k before present. Blue eyes and black skin also. The light skin mutation, it appears, had not yet established itself.
Anyway. Grandpa's got that jerkboy shitlord grin on his face as if Grandma's hormonal and he's just going to go out and hunt with his mates until it all blows over.

The US should just take all of its terrorists, drop them off at the border, tell them to walk north, and ask for asylum. Hehe

Falcon Heavy
by Coded Logic inthe falcon heavy is set to launch today.
if successful, it will become the most powerful rocket in use (twice as powerful as the delta heavy).. as it's the very first attempt, elon musk has said he thinks there's a 50/50 chance of it not blowing up.
so should be interesting.
