I wonder how far they are taking it at the local level- do they demand that individuals must show the vax card to confirm, or are they taking people's word for it? I bet that there are a fair number of congregations where the standards are not so rigorous...

Seems to be a census on vaccine status
by Indoubtbigtime inthe upcoming km school for all elders and servants is going to be in person only with no provision for video conferencing.. only fully vaccinated may attend.
meaning if you missed your last booster you are no longer fully vaccinated.. every coordinator of body of elders has to ask every single ms and elder if they have kept up with all their boosters and are fully vaccinated or they can’t attend.. this seems to be a census the gb want to know how many are keeping up with booster shots.

Is it Logical To Beleive In A Creator - GOD ? In This Scientific Age ?
by smiddy3 ini don`t think so .
hasn`t science ,astronomy ,time , .....proven it an illogical beleif ?.
with the information about this solar system and it`s planets ,other stars and their planets that we have information about ,and the fact that no god has ever revealed him/her self in any shape or form 'there is no evidence that a creator / god has ever existed.. except in the minds of humans who want to control a section of humanity .. the fact that religions rely on "you have to have faith" to beleive in a god ,surely is a cop out.. i look forward to your comments .. and a happy new year to you all..

I don't think we have an in-built moral compass. We learn from those around us how we are supposed to behave. I think we have an in-built desire to belong to a social group and to a community, and this influences us towards moral behavior, even for those who chafe at the limits society places on them.
I think it's also is why people who are misbehaving try to cover up or rationalize their actions. They seek to avoid the condemnation of their community and their social group. After all, if they were concerned about god, they would not misbehave at all-- they cannot hide their actions from god's eyes, according to most religious belief.

enoughisenough: How does that make you feel to know that you can do whatever you like and never have to be accountable?
I don't think that this is ever the case, regardless of the existence of a god.
1. We are social beings and we build relationships with others on a great many levels. There are a lot of things that I could do that would not be illegal or even wrong, yet I would be accountable for them because they might affect my relationships.
2. We live in societies where there are laws, regulations, and codes and we can be held accountable for the things we do by those societies. Even at a lower level, we deal with rules and regulations in workplaces, neighborhoods, public spaces, etc. We can be held accountable for our behavior in all of those situations.
I do not think that concepts of right and wrong are a problem for science. If we can reason out right and wrong, we can develop morals and ethics. No gods required.

I decided to Start a New Religion Since It's a Fun Way To Control People and Make Lots Of Money.
by new boy inthe new year is a good time to start things up.
so please help me decide which one of these two thought systems i should start.
i was thinking of two different types.

new boy: because people are so much smarter these days,
I think you are vastly overestimating people. Two relatively recent religions are Mormonism and Scientology. Both were started by a single person with wild ideas who may have thought (at first) that no one would be dumb enough to believe them.

We can have wholesome discussions while also admiring the train wreck that is Lloyd Evans. These are not mutually exclusive. I don't understand the "get a life" message, though. If I was posting in other topics instead of this one, I'd... have a life? It doesn't make sense.

Andrew Tate on the news
by slimboyfat ini hadn’t heard of this guy, andrew tate, until a few days ago, when he was mentioned on novara media (which is practically the only news i watch).
then i saw a clip with him where he explained why he moved to romania: he said he ‘likes romania because the police are corrupt and you can pay them off’.
(practically a direct quote) i thought to myself at the time that sounded a bit complacent!

Tate sounds like one of those people who is famous for being famous. No shortage of that type nowadays, thanks to social media. If his approach is to troll a climate nut by making himself seem like a narcissistic idiot, I'm only surprised that it took this long for him to get his comeuppance.

Debra: and of course Thailand every 3 or 4 months for the past five years,
I don't understand why you keep saying this. Neither Kim nor Evans ever claimed that he made repeat trips to Thailand; he went there once. He did not even claim to go there for sex (whether one believes this is a completely separate issue). He admitted to visiting sex workers, which presumably happened in Croatia.
He lives for this kind of confusion and mistaken information, which he can claim is proof that everyone is lying about him. Unless you can demonstrate otherwise, please stop repeating this claim.

I think that, as long as there are questions we do not have answers for, people will fill that gap with explanations of their own. Non-religious people are becoming a larger percentage of the population in some countries, and I expect this to continue for awhile, but I also think it will reverse at some point. There are a lot of things we don't know and have not figured out, and as long as those gaps exist, our need to be certain will guide us towards religious belief.
Science has, in my mind, made a certain type of god seem illogical. But that type --the all powerful interventionist who wishes the best for us-- is the one that we'd all prefer to be real, so it persists (even if the examples available don't quite fit the description, if you dig a bit deeper). The more likely type is one that probably doesn't care that we exist, aside from our use as a test case for future universes. That isn't very comforting.

One thing to take away from that Reddit post: Lloyd is starting to lose people for, basically, being Lloyd. It has not been surprising that he lost so much support, since most of his supporters were religious people who would be turned off by his actions. Which means that the ones who remain are either unaware of what he has done or did not feel it was sufficient reason to drop support. But, as he has shown so often, Evans is not a pleasant person and not afraid to show his unpleasant side, even to people who are rooting for him.
So it is likely that he will continue to lose patrons, because some will learn about him and be doubly resentful (for what he did and for hiding it from them) and others will find another reason to stop supporting him (because he's a massive douchebag).

JeffT: What did he need an initial print of 100 copies for?
I was thinking the same. If he wanted to offer some for sale through the crowdfunding campaign, I guess I can understand that. But he spoke of "what I need." Not a tier where you get a limited-edition first-printing, just a request to cover the print costs. He should be embarrassed that he tried to justify asking for gas money and for people to cover the cut that Indiegogo and PayPal would take.
Especially when -as you noted- Amazon already provides everything he would need to get the book printed and sold, at a minimal upfront cost to him. But if he had chosen that option, he probably would have started a crowdfunding campaign to ask people to donate to cover his internet connection costs.
