Rushdie was assaulted last year while giving a speech and stabbed multiple times. His wounds were quite severe but he did survive the attack. I can see why the WTS would tread carefully when making any mention of Islam.

Physically in mentally agnostic ie sitting on the fence
by ExBethelitenowPIMA inhi everyone i’m not pimi or pimo i’m pima.. i don’t think the gb have everything right but i’m sitting on the fence that maybe they do some things.. if the great trib starts i will jump that side of the fence.. this is a definite little sneaky advantage dodging but even by their own doctrine last min some could come in.. i suspect many are like me.. i spent years in bethel and am very disappointed and disillusioned by it all.. but at the end of the day i love the bible and think it is the word of god and i don’t see any other religion that comes as close to what jesus describes his true followers or who are fulfilling mat 24:14..

When I was a JW, we all assumed that no one else really proselytized, aside from perhaps the Mormons. If you'd asked me, I would have thought that no one else bothered to preach to others at all. It would not surprise me that a current or recent JW would be convinced that no other organization spreads the word of God on anywhere near the level of Jehovah's Witnesses. It is one of those things that is taught to them, the same as the claim that no other religion has such internal love and unity as they do.
It's not something that your average JW will question or even try to confirm. They just understand it to be true, and that these 'facts' help to demonstrate that they are truly God's chosen nation. It can make it difficult for the person who leaves the JWs. Even after my fade and eventual realization that I was not religious, it never occurred to me that the JWs were wrong about being ahead of everyone else in terms of proselytizing or their sense of brotherhood and togetherness.

Charlton Heston played Moses, of course. ;)
I can't tell you how many times we watched that movie. In the days before the internet, we were captive to whatever the handful of available channels had on. I think I've blocked out the memories of all of the times I saw The Wizard of Oz, Gone With the Wind, The Sound of Music, and so on.

neutrality
by enoughisenough ini had a thought about neutrality...how we were never to take sides on political issues, say by voting.
how does that square with the letters we were asked to write to various lawmakers in countries-not too many years ago we were ask to write to russian officials.
i wonder if there is to be a letter writing to norway.

I think it began as a way of codifying the stance against military service. I'm not sure when or how it was extended to activities like voting or serving on any sort of political body.

If the great trib starts I will jump that side of the fence.
Hmmm, will Jehovah be okay with that?

Holy crap, he's a fucking idiot. This is what they said:
"We'd particularly like to hear from you if you are aged 18-35"
See that? 35 is not the upper limit. They just want to hear from more people in the 18-35 range because, as they explained to him, that age group was not engaging as much. He feels that the older demographic might feel slighted... even though they have already taken part in greater numbers, which is why they are asking for more engagement from 18-35 year-olds.
I mean, really... he's a fucking idiot.

I just don't understand why they removed it. It was short, to the point, and innocuous. If they had to make a statement (and I think this is an event that required it), then that was the best that you could expect. Taking it down doesn't make sense to me. That was only going to stir up more rumors and gossip.
