I think that the initial feeling is one of pride and joy at being able to help Jehovah's organization. I did a lot of IT work for local brothers and sisters, and never charged a dime. Many of them actually offered payment, and some insisted on paying me. Even though what they offered was a small fraction compared to what I earned at my job, it did not worry me, as I was helping people who would also help us from time-to-time.
But yes, there were some brothers who found it very handy to have free tech support, and they wore me out after a while. When you know you have someone who will show up and work for free, suddenly you no longer try to fix things yourself, and you panic at every issue, no matter how minor. It's like having an auto-mechanic friend who will work on your car for free, and suddenly you need to report every noise or minor issue you think is happening, while also asking for monthly oil changes, and so on.

Bribing the children to serve--by request!
by Atlantis inbribing the children to serve--by request!
request from researcher: is it true that children in the early years of the watchtower society, were bribed into the field ministry work to make a profit to have money to spend?
if this is true, would you know where i could find that information?

My mother offered us 'reverse bribes.' Either we went out and participated in field service, or we would receive a painful beating.
I would have preferred the financial incentive.

Jan: do JW men actually do cleaning?
I don't think there is any guidance from the GB that precludes it. Although they tend to prefer the old-fashioned nuclear home (dad has a job, mom cleans and cooks, etc), there is nothing to stop a JW husband from helping with household chores, and nothing to stop a JW couple from reversing the roles, if they choose.

I turn around for a few hours and miss all of the drama.
As for evidence against evolution, there are literally hundreds of millions of people on the planet who believe in a young Earth and that god created all species without evolution. The amount of peer-reviewed work that they have produced that refutes evolution appears to be somewhere between zero and zero. I'd guess that the majority of people who did the work that led to the development of the initial theory and the decades of follow-up work were religious; they believe in god but their work just keeps confirming that evolution is an integral part of life on Earth.
Darwin himself, it should be noted, was a Christian until much later in his life. He was a Christian during the time he performed the work that would be published in his Origin of Species. He was a Christian for some time after. It was not evolution that led him to agnosticism, but the problem of evil, an issue that religion has wrestled with for a very long time. Who could imagine that a man who was raised a Christian might not consider racism or slavery to present much of a moral quandry?

"Hmmm... rent out my time for hundreds of dollars an hour to people who pay for legal help, or donate my time for free to the same people who encouraged me to become a mailroom clerk when I was 18? Tough call."

Teddnzo: It just shows the Bible can be interpreted in many different ways.
Which is not a good endorsement. The most important communication in the history of the universe, upon which the eternal outcome of billions of people depends, should really be so clear as to allow no confusion.
Or... god wanted this. Which is quite terrifying, when you think about it.

EasyPrompt: He is coming shortly.
People have been waiting on this for centuries. And they almost always expected "shortly" to refer to a period within their own lifetimes, or not long after. The book has changed very little --if at all-- during this whole time. Yet every attempt to use it to predict the day of reckoning has been wrong. Probably hundreds --if not thousands-- of predictions over the course of two-thousand years. All wrong, every time.
I don't think it can be trusted.

Simon: I wonder how much of his "wages" are also pissed away on only-fans and porn?
Good point. How much of his Patreon "salary" is being spent by his wayward penis? We must assume that he has yet to obtain mastery over it.
