“We just don’t know, Jehovah will do the right thing.”
Good of them to finally put some faith in Jehovah.
so, i finally saw the annual meeting video part 2.. this is the one with the “new light” on who might survive armageddon, vs. those who do not.. in summary, for those of you fortunate enough not to have to sit through it, it’s something like this:.
old light: once the “great tribulation” starts, that’s it for non-jws.
the “door of the ark” is closed.
“We just don’t know, Jehovah will do the right thing.”
Good of them to finally put some faith in Jehovah.
uh oh, looks like the mega thread gave up the ghost, so while i investigate / fix it just continue the discussion here .... it's been a long 9 years lloyd evans / john cedars.
KIMSILVIO: It’s my fault that he seems to be looking for a quick fix for his problems rather than look inside himself.
I chuckled at this because, as we all know by now, his favorite 'quick fix' is to blame Kim for his troubles. The troubles which, it must be pointed out, began before she ever said anything publicly.
happy new year!
time to give us your vote for lloyd's fall from grace this month.. december 6th he was at 406. as of today, january 3rd, he's at 388. that is exactly, on the dot, where he was january 3rd of last year!
he's lost all gains from his begging videos and reminders and tin cup waving and etc.. so, fire up the shrooms and let us know where you think flab boy will be on february 2nd.
If he doesn't beg: 375
If he does beg: 100
(Okay, kind of kidding with the second figure. I'm going with 375.)
so, i’m just posting this as a warning to lurking jws.
if you’re still on the fence, here is a story.. my grandmother, now in her 80s hasn’t talked to anyone in the family for over 20 years ever since my mother was the last one of her children that left ‘the truth’, she had sent my mother a card to never talk to her again.
so here we are 21 years later, she gets a call out of the blue that she needed help, she hadn’t been able to get into her kitchen.
The older JWs spent a long time convinced that the end was imminent, and if that meant cutting off communication with loved ones, so be it. The end would come soon and it was not worth it to risk losing out. And then the years pass, and nothing happens, and one day they are old and realize that they haven't talked to their children in decades and never met their grandchildren and suddenly they wonder why the end hasn't come.
Sadly, a lot of them will dig in their heels because those decades of shunning are a sunk cost and they can't risk it because now the end must be imminent and wouldn't it be a shame, etc. Others finally reach out, crushed because they realize that they'll never get that time back, and they missed out on so much. It damages people and relationships. Shunning is evil.
the wt teaches that the memorial ( communion) should only be celebrated yearly and only the anointed can partake of the bread and wine .
is that right ?
i don't think so ..
The JW explanation was that the Lord's Supper replaced Passover, which was an annual celebration. Thus, communion is seen as an annual event. The bit about only the anointed partaking relies on their explanation that there was a cutoff for when souls would be allowed into heaven as opposed to having an Earthly future.
That latter one is even more problematic. If Christ's sacrifice was for everyone, then you would assume everyone must partake. It's a symoblic gesture that signifies acceptance of Christ as one's savior and the only path to a 'good' future. Thus, telling the "unanointed" that they cannot partake makes no sense, especially from a group that claims to reject heirarchical titles because we are all on the same level in god's eyes.
this topic i digress about why the watchtower relaxing the rules of disfellowship is essential for its survival.
many things i'm going to say are not my ideas, some are, the point is, i'm condensing everything in a logical and concise way.. the first thing we have to keep in mind is that the wt's main objective in instituting disfellowship has always been not to lose members because of the damage that a dissident could do, or to avoid gaining new members because of the bad reputation of a confessed sinner in the his/her region.
in the end, the more active members, the more money to the coffers.. in this case of disfellowship due to apostasy, to avoid any spark, texts were sought out of context that even prohibited saying "hi".
Vidiot: …and in doing so, will have effectively forfeited its claim of God’s exclusive favor…
I was wondering about that. The recent repetition and reminders that they are mere fallible men who sometimes get things wrong seems almost like a way to ease the rank and file into a more relaxed approach. It gets tougher to hold yourself up as anything more than a seeker of truth if you have to keep reminding people that you screw up just like anyone else.
Either you are not the exclusive channel of god, or Jehovah just loves to prank his F&DS from time to time. There really shouldn't be a question of how the leadership maintains control, it's more a question of finding leaders who are charismatic enough. And, wouldn't you know it, they're shuffling leadership and bringing in younger guys recently. Hmmm...
from jw org; 2023 - a year of anxiety:.
“since the beginning of 2023, there have now been 13 earthquakes above magnitude 7 worldwide, one of the highest values since records began.”.
www.earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk cites 3 reasons it may seem that earthquakes are increasing in intensity and number.. 1. more population growth = more people affected.. 2. clustered statistics.
So I guess this means that we're in the last part of the last part of the last part of the end of the end of the end. Soon, we will shorten it to "we are in the last part^5 of the end^5 of the end^5."

LMsA: He expresses profound regret that not everyone having mental health issues can experience this.
Many mental health issues are caused by (or result in) changes in brain chemistry. And those are usually treated with drugs that try to help get the brain chemistry closer to normal. Advocating that such people alter their brain chemistry with psychedelics sounds dangerous. Doing so after deciding to stop taking prescribed mood-controlling drugs sounds particularly stupid and irresponsible, even for him.
Someone mentioned Boogie2988 recently. I think a case can be made that Evans has been entering into that territory, and I wonder if this is where he decided to go all in. I don't think it will end any better.

If it stays alive by making changes that ease the pressure on the rank and file and move towards a more mainstream approach, that might be better than having it die off.

Evans has pushed the narrative that it is the defamation/hate campaign that has caused him so much grief. He does not refer to his actions that precipitated it, insisting that those are no one's business and therefore should not be a factor. He says this in the public YouTube video livestream where he admitted to those actions.
If that sounds crazy, that's because it is.
As for jwwatch.org- as far as I know, it has been down for months. He apparently has let it die. I can't blame him. He certainly wan't going to post regular updates, so it would have become a dead site that he had to pay for. Better to nuke it. And if the links on his other sites point to a dead page, oh well. It's not as bad as deleting his Twitter account and having someone else take it, so that his old links point to the new account.
