VAT4956 - 530 BC destruction of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar
by jwposter inin my studies, i have concluded that year 530 bc was when the destruction of jerusalem occurred and the temple destroyed.
i had determined this prior to investigation of vat4956.
i had already found that the jubilees, sabbaticals, courses of the priests, and chronology attested to this.

When did JWS start disfellowshipping and why?
by lettersfromthevoid ini know this question has been discussed, but i can't find the topic i was just looking at, so.... one thing about this is that the other posters here didn't mention, that i noticed anyway, that there was this member of the gb in the 40s and early 50s (but possibly during rutherford) who was at odds with rutherford or knorr, and they wanted to do away with them, so they accused (falsely) that person, then they declared that the punishment for that sin was something they invented, or at least once iteration of, what we know as the modern disfellowshipping practice among jws.. so, that is why they invented that doctrine; they.

Not 100% sure, but that sounds like Olin Moyle.

JWlite like being a Trekkie. You know it’s fictional
by ExBethelitenowPIMA ini now view jwlite like the trekkie conventions.
star trek is fiction and all the fans know this full well.
but they find it beneficial.

The nonsense about new light at the right time is a fancy way of not wanting to admit they had it wrong all along and are just making it up as they go.

Who really is the Faithful and Discreet Slave? The recent changes and the Governing Body's 10 year plan
by redsetter2 ini am sure we were all shocked at the governing body update #2 with the unusual and impulsive changes set forth.. i am an insider at whq, and when i was on reddit and in communication with avoidjw i explained to the best of my ability that the approach on disfellowshipping was going to change based on the new light at the 2023 agm, that the jubilee rumor was false, and there were going to be changes on how jws approached disfellowshipping in response to the norway situation if it didn't turn out in watchtower's favor.
the decision came because of a legal blow to watchtower, not because "holy spirit" wad directing a faithful slave, who is going to become the "evil slave", more explanation on this soon.. everything i stated came true.
i left reddit exjw community due to the immature and mentally unstable nature there, and yet as has been the case my words came true.

It does seem as if the primary attitude with these changes is "we're going to stop sticking our noses in your personal lives." To which the reply should be "thanks! Better late than never, assholes!"
It's a good start, since they're still trying to have some control. Maybe now elders won't have to deal with private and personal matters that they are not prepared to deal with. Less stressful that way. Well, except for the power-tripping ones who will be upset that they can't ask intimate questions and lord it over people anymore.

The Sickening Sadism of Christianity
by cofty inburning heretics alive was a common practice in medieval europe.
i cannot begin to imagine the depravity of the mind that invented this cruelty, let alone the inhumanity and callousness of those who carried out the act.
sometimes an individual would take pity on the victim and hide gunpowder among the wood faggots to hasten their death.. there is only one way to make this scenario even more depraved, infinitely depraved in fact; and that would require magic powers.

Oh, I think cofty understands all too well how fragmented Christianity is. We have topics here were devout Christians continue to discuss and debate important doctrines of Christianity which remain unresolved after centuries of debate and discussion and interpretation and reinterpretation and the endless reciting of scriptural texts linked together to support and reject the same concepts.
Me, I think that the problem with Christianity (and pretty much all religions) is that it starts with a fair number of presuppositions which undermine any possible attempts at analyzing its claims objectively. Until we are willing to put those aside and rebuild our foundations of spiritual knowledge and understanding, we'll keep going in these circles.

"Cara pronounced Sara" doesn't get enough attention. And by attention, I mean mockery.
It was easily the most cringe part of that letter, and those letters are wall-to-wall cringe. It has such a 'stop mispronouncing the name of the whore I was cheating with' vibe to it that you have to wonder how he could read that line and think 'yeah, I pwned my wife with that line' instead of 'holy shit I am such a terrible human being.'
And this was all before he went on that livestream to explain how Kim tattling on him was the worst betrayal ever.

They can't be doing this to keep the current rank and file from leaving, as much as to make it more attractive to new converts. How they expect to do that after the changes to the preaching work and reporting, I don't know.
But this will wreak havoc on at least some congregations. The whole idea was that the rank and file had every decision made for them, and would be 'counseled' when they went even slightly outside of the bubble. Now they are being told they have the freedom to make more decisions, and many will not know what to do. One thing they will do is reject the changes. They'll show up to the meetings in the 'proper' attire and get snippy with anyone who doesn't. They will continue to shun DF'ed people and distance themselves from those who do not. And so on.
They'd better have some long-term goal that I'm not seeing, because they are in for a very rocky couple of years at minimum, in my opinion.

Just watched it. It's an amazingly good AI voice. You can tell it's an AI, but it's pretty smooth.
pasta_hour, was this a text script fed into an AI app, or did the AI have a spoken script to work from?

Explain the Anthony Morris thing to me
by optimisticskeptic inok, so can someone explain with relative brevity what the anthony morris thing is all about.
i certainly don't miss the guy but would like as valid of an explanation as possible without a bunch of paranoid conspiracies that no one can verify.
as best as i can tell from cryptic comments on here is he is no longer on the gb but in a congregation in the carolinas somewhere.

The JW org site had posted a small note that 'Brother Morris' was no longer a member of the governing body. They removed the note sometime after, and don't seem to have said anything else about it. Morris apparently is living in a home (purchased by the WTS?) in North Carolina, and attending a local congregation there. There haven't been any leaks as far as I am aware, but it's the kind of thing that would make the rounds of exJW videos if/when it does.
With the raft of recent changes, the assumption is growing that Morris was a hardliner who would not accept those changes. Perhaps he stepped down after realizing he would be outvoted, or perhaps he was made to step down in order to avoid a nasty confrontation. Shortly after his departure, two new members of the GB were introduced. It does seem as if he lost a battle of some sort and the WTS is heading in a different direction. The latest changes are certainly something I did not think I'd see anytime soon.
