"Cautious" isn't a word I'd associate with him.

I thought he was buying liquor for the group when I saw the bottlegate video. I figured they kept a fridge stocked with some drinks for long meetings. It didn't occur to me that he was buying all of it for himself!

It is very easy to conclude that a prayer worked, if you interpret the results to support it.

Llubrevlis2000: It’s been long enough by now
It's only been a couple of days. The rumor mill can grind pretty slowly, and the earliest reports can be wildly off the mark. I think we'll find out more over the coming weeks, as people come and go and speak with others and some theories get built up and torn down, and so on.
It may take some time, but a fairly reliable account should eventually emerge.

Witness 007: 1950 Brother Knorr invited me..to join the Writting Department. When I told him it did not matter where I served, HE REPROVED ME saying when an added privlege of service is extended we should be eager to accept it.
I think Ray Franz outlined a similar experience with Knorr in Crisis of Conscience. Knorr extended an offer to Franz to leave the Carribean and go to Bethel, and Franz implied that he was happy where he was. Knorr's reaction gave Franz the impression that he was rejecting a generous offer. Franz quickly clarified that he was happy to move to Brooklyn and the WTS HQ.
Knorr sounds like a guy who was used to people doing as he 'asked.'

I'm not sure they can avoid liability by cutting him loose, especially if they did it just as an investigation is starting. Nor would it work very well for them to try and paint him as a lone-wolf, when he was part of a group that presents an image as a unified body of men working under the direct guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Anything they could do to try and distance themselves from him really wouldn't work at this late stage. They can't be that unprepared, can they?

I can understand why people would be tired of seeing the topic on the front page after so long, and I can understand why people would be surprised at the length of it. In a small forum with low volume, it stands out.
I think it is still going because Evans is still going. He hasn't owned up to who he is and what he has done over the years, and instead has doubled-down and dug in. Until he goes away, interest in this topic will continue. I'm still amused by him and his antics, and the way he seems to be charting a slow and steady course towards irrelevance.
For others -especially those who have had unpleasant experiences with him- I think this topic will remain relevant until he becomes irrelevant. He's on his way, but it looks like it will be a while. I'd give him credit for resiliency, but I think it's more along the lines of desperation that keeps him going.

joey jojo: The 2 new guys look way too sober to provide any real fun.
I wonder if that's part of the plan, to get people who deliver the message as blandly and as on-point as possible.

It is interesting to view their study guide from a perspective of someone long since gone. It reads like the older books and pamphlets, with an emphasis on how the Bible helps us to find what we seek and what we need, along with encouragement to read the Bible for themselves while also preparing them for the pick-and-choose manner in which the WTS uses Bible verses to make their sales pitch and reinforce their teachings.
What the prospective study doesn't know is that, once they're attending meetings regularly, the message changes in a subtle but important way-- the organization becomes the focus. You no longer are encouraged to read the Bible for yourself- you are encouraged to read the packaged portions and recognize that the organization's explanation is the correct one. You aren't reading the Bible to test what you are told. You are cofirming what you are told, if you know what's good for you.
Also, while they minimize Jesus, they constantly insist that this is not the case. Your average JW will consider it utterly ridiculous to think that they do not give Jesus the importance he deserves.
