by pokertopia inbecome imitators of me.—1 cor.
11:1.. when paul said this, did he ask us to imitate his preach activities?
it is not a new verse that starts anew, but a verse that ends the previous chapter, so what paul says to imitate is shown in the previous chapter.

God and Unicorns
by Sea Breeze inatheist scientists now agree that "elasmotherium sibiricu" lived with humans.
all they had to do was read their bible to know that.
job 39:9 “will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?”.

a pet peeve of mine
by enoughisenough inputting this under "friends" because i couldn't figure out where to put it.
it is very often on here and in ex jw videos, ect that people like to undermine some of those who once we would have called friends.
there seems to be a view that window washers, plumbers, cleaners, construction workers are somehow less intelligent than those who may be college educated.

I think people have always associated a college degree with higher intelligence. When I was young, college was something that you did if you wanted to become an engineer, or a doctor, and other professions that required a lot of extra schooling and subjects like advanced math or biology. So it was a simple association- if you went to college, you were smart.
Like any stereotype, there will be rules and exceptions. For a JW, higher education was something that we were asked to forego in order to keep our faith strong. While this normally might cause people to have an inferiority complex, we also understood that we were smarter for doing so, since we would enjoy salvation while those 'smarter' people died at Armageddon. So we had this ironic situation, where we passed on higher education while feeling superior to those who chose to go to college.
As for me, I was a good JW and passed on going to college. I became an IT technician and an IT administrator for a while. I only got the most basic certifications, and I did so around 20 years late, mostly so I could get a raise.

You're pretty far down the rabbit hole when 'prostitution and cheating aren't that bad' qualify as a character defense.

Toblerone5: Was it reallly to "save" his mariage the reason he came home?
I think he rushed back home so he could take control of the situation. Much easier to manipulate/intimidate/control people face-to-face.

Keep in mind that they believe that the end is very near and may happen any day now. So any sign that things are getting bad/worse will put many of them on alert. My mother constantly warns me that "things are so bad that they cannot continue like this," as if to imply that the end has to be soon.
She's been saying this for a good 40+ years now, but I doubt she realizes that.

The currently missing 'Titan' submarine. What do you think?
by SydBarrett inany opinions are just speculation, but my guess, being morbid, is that there was not a hull breach and implosion (although that would have been the most merciful fate for them), but instead the amateur level of building this thing meant that it lost power and communication and got itself tangled in the titanic's wreckage or is sitting on the actual seabed with no way to release ballast to resurface.
terrifying.
what's your gut feeling?

HiddlesWife: The CEO, regardless of NDAs or some other contracts signed by the now victims–will be looking forward to being litigated by someone’s family members/loved ones in the nearest future! Just. My. Observations.
Wasn't the CEO one of the passengers on this trip?

Remember that, in his confession video, he tried to defend himself by explaining that he hadn't raped or murdered anyone, or drowned any puppies. So he's used to setting the bar low.

By the way, biologists do not claim that humans evolved from apes, but that humans and apes evolved from a common ancestor. The "argument" that humans evolved from apes is not an argument. It is not a view promoted by evolutionary biologists. They do not make this claim.
As for missing links, the term is a misnomer, IMO. It implies that evolution has stopped, as opposed to being an ongoing process (in which case every species is a link). Thus, there will always be missing links, since it's unlikely that we'll ever find every single species that has existed. But that doesn't mean that evolutionary lineages have not been extensively mapped, per https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/List_of_transitional_forms
