  I don't believe that he is addicted to porn or sex or anything. He uses "addiction" and "repression" as excuses for his behavior. He's a man in his 40s with a wife and children who has spent years exchanging sex chat on the internet and visiting prostitutes for paid sex. He's not an addict. He's an inconsiderate asshole.

  He blames the WTS --the very organization whose rules forbade his actions-- for turning him into a helpless nymphomaniac. Remember, nothing is ever his fault. Just as he blames Kim for the scandal that is ruining him, and just as he blames his wife for refusing to understand his complex sexual and emotional needs, he blames "addiction" and "lack of penis mastery" for his selfish and inconsiderate behavior.

  It's always someone else's fault.

  hi i want to tell my story and get advice.

  i'm a single sister ( in usa) that has been baptized for 20 years.

  i came from the world, so did not grow up in the truth and i have no family in the truth -- i am alone.. last year i met a brother & we did have premarital sex while we were dating.

  Did the elders on your judicial committee feel the same way? I think that most JWs would take the approach that having sex prior to marriage is a sin, and they would not make an allowance for how close you were to your wedding day. But the verdict is really down to how they view the issue as a whole.

  If you convinced them that you were repentant, they are likely to be open to an early reinstatement. But as Blues Brother said, there are no hard and fast rules that cover every possible situation, and the elders are making a judgment call. If you really want to stay in, your only recourse is to accept whatever they decide and see what kind of schedule they have in mind.

  As some of the others have said, it's not a course I recommend, but there is a clear path for you to return if that is what you want to do.

  That's a good point, DerekMoors. He doesn't have time to fulfill his obligations (ones that he set the terms for) to his paying customers, right after uploading several pictures of himself on yet another vacation.

  I agree with Slim- if people are still sending him money, then Evans is having a right laugh at their (literal) expense.

  most jws are technically apostates from the religions they were raised in.

  I think most religions have their critics, including those who take on the activist role. Scientology seems to have more than the WTS, perhaps because of its high profile.

  my take is: 1914 is not biblical since no dates are in the bible.

  There was a blog post --which, sadly I cannot find anymore-- that detailed a lot of Russell's shady business dealings and how he treated his wife. It makes him look like a snake-oil salesman. I had a very different impression of the man after reading it.

  That's the first thing that came to my mind- he can leave Twitter if he wants, but he'll have to delete a whole lot of his tweets first. Otherwise, people will be free to reply to his older ones and dump all of the skeletons from his closet for the world to see.

  I don't think he has the patience or energy to delete literally hundreds of tweets (possibly thousands). And I know it would just kill him to delete his account. His only option is to pray to Jehovah (or sacrifice a chicken to Elon Musk) that X decides not to make this change.

  It's not that prosecutors are unsupervised, it's that a grand jury is only hearing from the prosecutor's office; neither the defendant nor their lawyer are allowed to be part of those proceedings. The DA presents its case in order to get the jury to agree that felony charges can be filed.

  The DA may be tempted to bring a lopsided case to the grand jury, if they feel that a felony indictment will make them more likely to plead to a lesser charge. If the case seems weak, they may push for a felony indictment even though they plan to drop the charges if the defendant won't agree to a deal. If the case has made headlines and the public expects action, they may be forced to indict regardless of the probable outcome.

  I think this case has the latter as one of the factors. Complicity in a crime that is so horrifying isn't something they can wave off, though they might be using the indictment as a way to pressure her to cooperate against the other defendant, who appears to have perpetrated the actual assaults.

  Let's be grateful for the fact that he never follows this advice. His downfall is only possible because he wouldn't stop talking, and his embarrassment is mostly possible because he never stops talking. This is not an attempt at reverse psychology- he really can't stop talking, even when it is detrimental to him.

  His lack of control of his weenie would not have been an issue for him, if not for the lack of mastery he has over his tongue.

  the narrator of the book of ecclesiastes had very little knowledge of many things that jesus and his apostles later preached.

  the author does not make statements, but only wonders (thinks, observes, often raises questions, and leaves them open).

  he looked at the world based on the law of moses and found nothing but vanity, as the earthly reward promised in the law did not always accompany good deeds and earthly punishment for evil deeds.

  Ecclesiastes 10:19 "Bread is made for laughter, and wine makes life enjoyable; but money answers every need."

  It seems like a basic comparison. Food and drink have specific uses and benefits, while money can provide for a broader range of needs. This does not contradict any Bible teachings about money, IMO. Money is good, and money is useful, and obsessing over money can be harmful-- these are not exclusive statements.

  I get the same impression as FFGhost, that it's copy/pasted from somewhere. I'd rather see a short explanation with links to the larger text. Sea Breeze will usually give a concise answer with links to longer explanations with more detailed info, for example.

  I see a long post (10,000+ words) and I just move on to the next topic.
