Teddnzo: It’s seems fat tony leaves and two new GB really shook things up
I get the impression that making him leave and bringing in the new people was the shake up.

re-posting this for reference.. #1 protein functional redundancy comparing the sequences of amino acids in ubiquitous proteins confirms the relationship between all living things..
#2 dna functional redundancy comparison of the dna that codes for the amino acids of ubiquitous proteins predicts the tree of life with an astonishing degree of accuracy..
#3 ervs endogenous retroviruses that infected our ancestors are found in the same place of the genome of our closest primate cousins..
I'm less concerned about the obvious trolls than the ones like James Tour and Stephen Meyer. Someone who refuses to engage and just says "this is true and this is not" is easy enough to recognize and dismiss. Someone who can engage in actual high-level science can obfuscate the issues and drag the discussion in any number of directions, so as to avoid the relevant information/data. How far are they setting humanity back, in a day and age when these issues should already be settled?

second part stephen meyer proposes intelligent design as an explanation of some of the problems.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bss0rxpsbuq.
Yeah, that's a good example of what I mean. I sounded like that, too, when I was a JW. I didn't realize just how little I knew or understood, I just assumed that I knew as much as the global community of people who had been discovering and researching and experimenting for more than a century. It was easy to poke holes in ideas that I had a vanishingly small understanding of. Today, I am at least somewhat aware of how little I know.
As a result, I don't blindly accept ideas that I can't understand or make sense of. I can recognize that concepts that millions of humans have spent decades unwrapping are more reliable than ideas that billions of people cannot reach a consensus on after thousands of years. So I've taken a small step forward. It's never fun to realize that there is so much we do not know. But once that door has been opened, it's impossible to close again.

Vidqun: I had hoped we can discuss some of the specifics, go down to molecular level.
You're talking about some fairly involved scientific knowledge and high-level areas of research. The idea that non-experts can weigh in with more than basic levels of understanding isn't realistic. It's why I pointed out how people like Tour and Meyer are treated within the circles of science that specifically deal with the things they want to discuss and critique (areas outside of their own expertise).
They're not taken seriously by the experts in life sciences and evolutionary biology. I cannot speak to the stuff that Tour or Meyer bring up; I don't know anywhere near enough about them. But the people who DO know these things don't even find them worth listening to. Is this because of some vast scientific conspiracy? Or are they pushing ideas that can't be taken seriously by the people who actually know what they are talking about?
Same with evolution. If the actual experts and researchers into the field all come to the same conclusion, I am comfortable to accept that they have it right. Or at least, that they're on to something. What can the non-expert tell me about things that neither of us know much about? And why would I depend on them or myself for understanding about a topic that has been researched (and continues to be researched) as thoroughly as evolution has, for well over a century now?
i was born in 1977 & came in as a convert in 2003 --- so i have no idea what went on before my time.. however i have been familiar with the scriptures of "nobody knows the day or hour" & " it will come as a theif in the night" meaning that it was sure but unpredictable time.
how could anyone belive that anyone else ( organization or not) put a date on it?.
also what was the significance of 1975 anyway?
Not just that-- it wasn't until the publisher numbers began to shrink that they decided to even say anything about it, and their first attempt was to claim to have been misunderstood by an overeager rank and file. It wasn't until much later that they modified the language to admit that maybe they were also partly at fault.
uh oh, looks like the mega thread gave up the ghost, so while i investigate / fix it just continue the discussion here .... it's been a long 9 years lloyd evans / john cedars.
DerekMoors: I'm betting he didn't realize that number would still show
That's funny, if true.
We might be entering a new phase, where the Patreon numbers don't tell enough of the story anymore. Just keep in mind, that if he had 5,000 patrons and fewer than 200 were paying him, he'd be in a panic. What's even more funny- his critics might make up more than half of his patron count before long, thanks to the free tier. How long before he decides that it is a bad idea?

LMsA: If he doesn't comply
I have no idea if a countersuit is feasible or not. But if it was and they won, they wouldn't need to care if he complied or not. The verdict itself would be a direct kick in the pants. What could he do, at that point? Ignore it? Fine, everyone else could paper the internet with it and use it to embarrass him further. Or maybe he would make a post to his supporters, criticizing the verdict and making a show of promising not to comply? That would bring the news straight to the one remaining group that he really wishes wouldn't see it.
Then again, this seems to be the case with him over and over. His arrogance and plain old meanspiritedness have led him down a path of one bad decision after another. I don't really think it's possible for him to fix this anymore. The hole is too deep. His options are to keep digging until he disappears, or learn to wash dishes semi-competently and live on a shoestring.

DerekMoors: there are certain rules you need to follow when filing paperwork
Yep. Courts tend to have very specific ways of presenting information and even how to describe acts and activity, so that there is no confusion. If all he did was provide pages with links and vague insinuations ("at this link, defendant defamed me"), the court will ask him to resubmit and to follow certain protocol.
"You know what you did" and "I don't need to tell you what you did" does not work in a courtroom. It will get your case dismissed, often with prejudice (ie, you cannot file it again). Courts are very busy places that have to deal with lots of time-wasting nonsense, so they have developed ways to minimize the impact of garbage like this.
yesterday i was visited by 2 witnesses, and we had a long chat about lots of things!
one of them named claire took the lead and i instantly felt some sort of connection to her, after we had spoken and they had left i started to have this overwhelming feeling to research her and what she had spoken about but i couldn’t find her anywhere on any website or social media, so i left it and thought nothing more of it all day….
however the strange thing is i had a dream that night and claire was in it, many things happened in this dream that i was told i was only allowed to speak about with claire, i can speak of the dream to others but the details only me and claire can know!
NeedsProof: Is this normal to experience
It is not unusual to have dreams related to events from your day. I agree with Phizzy that they're just that- your mind keeping itself busy while you sleep.
hi all.. i've posted this in humour given that most of jw doctrine changes and flip flops are just so.. as stated, if there is now to be a 'last minute redemption'.what happens to the aforementioned folk?.
cannot wait for a explane-ation.
am i the only one giggling at this??
What if, just as Armageddon begins, a DF person has a heart attack from the realization that it is the end? Does Jehovah watch them intently to see if they actually died before or after it officially began?
