just to give you guys an update on mine and my son’s exit from the matrix.
my son put on his instagram page he was no longer a jw and wished everyone a merry christmas.
🎄💥😳the blocks/unfollows came thick and fast.
I found that most JWs are good people, with the exception that they will judge and shun you if you leave. Is that really worth keeping? One hand on your shoulder, and the other hand grasping the rug that they will pull out from under your feet?
I don't blame people for fading slowly, it's what I did (though I hardly had any contact with JWs during my fade). But I also commend anyone who rips off the bandaid and gets to see just who their friends really were (hint: it's probably not any JWs).
there're the obvious ones, like the smurfs.
although why still escapes me.
was it because of the magic, that they were "magical creatures", that there were wizards, etc?.
I remember my mother explaining to other JWs that she had done "research" into the Smurfs and discovered that they were of 'demonic origin' or something like that. My older sister loved the smurfs and had a collection of the little figurines, which she had to throw away once my mother made her 'discovery.' It was like a competition sometimes, to see who could find more demons in their homes so that they could tell everyone how they exorcised them.
The thing is, my mother was like many parents, who used the TV as a way to keep the kids out of her hair. So we grew up watching everything, including Scooby-Doo and Casper cartoons. As long as we weren't annoying her, there wasn't much we couldn't watch during the early afternoon.

It might sound silly, but is it really any worse than failed end-times predictions and overlapping generations? At some point, you've crossed into parody, and that's a lot more fun than taking any of it too seriously.

Sometimes I wonder if you're just having us on. The 'facts' in that article are all backed only by Bible verses. Which means that none of their claimed facts are corroborated at all. In other words, they're claims, not facts. Do the people writing these articles understand what the word means? I'm not quite sure if they do and are simply trying to decieve people, or if they're so determined to believe in something that they don't realize that they're making things up? Do they understand that when they set the bar so low, they also legitimize the claims made by other religions, including those that have been long abandoned by humanity?
"we're living in the final part of the last days, undoubtedly the final part of the final part of the last days, shortly before the last day of the last days!!!".
how are they going to phrase this in ten years time......
They could always recycle the oldies: "If you are a young person, you must face the fact that you will never grow old in this system of things." "Millions now living will never die." And so on.

Just a reminder that things are not either/or: my distrust of COVID vaccines does not mean that I believe every nutcase and idiot with a YouTube channel who thinks that the lizard people are trying to wipe out humanity with a flu shot, nor do I trust the gullible dupes who hang on their every word. Convenient skepticism is not skepticism.

Yes, he has had a rough two years now. I feel bad for him, the way Kim dragged him to Thailand and threw him at those sex workers, that wasn't very nice. But at least she made sure to verify that they were 20 or older, so she's not entirely evil.

He also works hard to scrub the YT comments on his videos. It's a relatively minor thing, but it can enforce the sense of a tight-knit community sheltering against its enemies.
Speaking of relatively minor things, I'm not so sure the Croatian police will make much of an issue of Evans not being home or having the wrong home address for his legal correspondence. That is probably the sort of thing that can be ironed out quickly and painlessly most of the time. If the courts in Croatia are that manic, I don't think they'd be able to get anything done, spending all of their time tracking down deadbeats both real and imaginary.
And I am sure that they will be sensitive to his concerns over his mental health.
