I was in FS with an elder and his wife, we were driving around doing return visits and the whole time she talked about how good she looks in a bikini and how popular she was in high school, how she tans easily, how she never had low self esteem and on and on and on and on...it was so bizarre because she wasn't talking to me or her husband, it was as if we weren't there. i was so miserable, i wanted to just open the door and run.

Witnesses vying for "who has the biggest trials to cope with"
by stuckinarut2 init struck me that witnesses have mastered the art of revelling in "trials and problems" that require "enduring".
of course, the persecution complex, and the paranoia about these "wicked last days" no doubt contributes to this.. if one witness has some health issue, or if another has a family drama, they seem to revel in sharing these stories amongst their witness friends...almost in an attempt to elicit sympathy.. has anyone else noticed this?.
most normal people though outside of the org, simply recognise that life has its ups and downs, and need to be dealt with..

Finkelstein: you hit the nail on the head about JW's not wanting to go to the meetings.
When i would miss meetings, i would get a million calls but when i was at the meetings those same people wouldn't even speak to me. It was like "if i gotta be here, you gotta be here"

It's bad enough the JW kids don't get to celebrate their birthdays or holidays. No after school sports or cheerleading. No saturday morning cartoons, Saturdays are for field service. No college. Now they need to give up toys and ice cream money.

When my non JW husband and I would argue, i felt sooooooo persecuted. Oh i would cry and cry out to Jehovah. I felt horrible...all of my trails and tribulations. My husband was being used by satan to persecute me. Now we when argue...its like "you're being an ass" then next day we're cool...life goes on.. no more sobbing and feeling tortured cause my husband and I disagree.

A man dressed as a woman, he had a black eye and several brusies all over his face, opened the door and before i could say a word, grabs me and kisses me. He took the tract out my hand and proceeded to walk down the street.

Did You Enjoy Your "Vacations " As a JW?
by minimus inwe went on "vacation " every year because we were jehovah's witnesses!
we were so fortunate to stay in a cheap hotel more often than not so that we could enjoy a witness convention.. we never enjoyed a real vacation though until many years later and the funny thing is---so many jws thought it was so materialistic because we went on more than one "vacation " per year..

I feel really bad for making the convention the family vacation. This year we skipped the convention and went to visit family instead. We went to the amusement park and had a wonderful time.
My husband is non JW and every summer we had huge arguments over the convention. He didnt want to go and l would try to make it sound like great fun...so exhausting.

Is The Watchtower Corporation Facing A Meltdown Of Confidence Among Its Members?
by Brokeback Watchtower inlooking at all the narcissistic bull shit the watchtower corporation has been spewing out for the world to see about suffering of its members to as nothing worth being very concerned about and as jehovah magnificent be vindicated is much more important.
have they really gone off their rocker enough for a very sizable portion of membership to see their insanity and jump ship?.
i think definitely they are losing all respect from their internet savy members as their madness becomes obvious.

I've heard at several conventions, assemblies and meetings that we are only guaranteed survival and protection as a group. So basically anything can happen to you and you can't expect Jehovah to step in and save you. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. Most likely not. However as group JW's will be saved. Even if your faithful to the end, MAYBE you will be saved. If you die...maybe you'll get a resurrection. Huh? What kind of salvation is that?

Last Week's Watchtower had something that made people start questioning things?
by silentbuddha ini just got a call from a friend who said that something in last weeks watchtower caused a number of people in various congregations to start questioning things, and several long time elders left.
i am totally out of the loop but i do read things here and i heard of no such thing.. something to the effect that jw's and governing boobies are not inspired or something along those lines?.

I never understood why God gave Job more children, why didnt he resurrect the ones that were killed. If Job never knew why this was happening, who told moses? or whoever wrote the story, how did they know what happened in heaven?

Just A Thought Regarding The Bunker Video
by pale.emperor inas ridiculous as the bunker video was, a few things popped into my consciousness as i was riding the train today.
firstly, why did they go to all the expense and effort to not only create a bunker, but to furnish it like a living room complete with coffee table, armchair, shelves etc?
i mean, a bunker should be a bunker... boxes of tinned food, tools, medical supplies, emergency gear etc.

I remember watching this video at the convention and I was really annoyed by the ending, when the storm troopers opened the door...then that was the end....OK....now what?
They were hiding. Why?. They went through all the trouble of hiding and having secret knocks, being on the look out and being extra careful, yet! they were still found. They never said why they needed to hide. It didnt make sense to me. So exactly when does God protect you?
I felt like the video was over the top and I felt embarrassed wondering what anyone visiting the convention would think of the wacko video.
