The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Glad I missed this Circuit Assembly.
Let's review: It's a cult!
well i got to waste another day.
for the sake of still in family i attended the circuit assembly.
they say a joy shared is doubled, and a burden shared is halved.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Glad I missed this Circuit Assembly.
Let's review: It's a cult!
the video invitation for the 2018 convention is just creepy.
i thought it was some parody at first as it seems 'dark'.it begins with a young man being pushed whilst standing at his locker and the voice over says that 'in critical times we need courage more than ever'.
next, comes a clip of a male putting his hand on the shoulder of a female worker, the look she gives him would be enough to give him nightmares for the next year.
You're probably right Morpheus. Perhaps they were going for a "Phoenician look" (I'm no expert on ancient nautical engineering and design).
Still, the Sea of Galilee is 21 km (13 mi) long and 13 km (8.1 mi) wide.
I'm not buying monster rogue waves there.
i have watched tons of youtube videos of our exjdub friends approaching and talking to the jdub manikins at their carts as they give a great witness to the world by sipping their hot lattes, updating their social media, chit chatting to each other, and the most important thing of getting their time in, counting their hours.. when the jw's see someone approach with a camera they do several things, they will turn their backs on the person, or look at the person with a frown and act like the person isn't even there.
the witlesses refuse to answer simple, clear, and precise questions.
when i was an elder i loved to get into discussions and debates with trinitarians, priest, clergymen and those who were born again.
I took this picture last summer in Budapest in a Metro station. Could this poor sod look any more disengaged? Nem tudom (I don’t think so).
Still, you gotta love the irony of the two posters behind him. You don’t need to speak Hungarian to know that one is for a performance of “Jesus Christ Superstar” and the other for a Queen concert with Adam Lambert.
The juxtaposition of this pathetic JW and the "worldly" posters is quite delicious! Sometimes life gives us these little gifts.

What's with the Viking sail boat and the huge wave?!?

what are the psychological effects of losing your religion?.
bps research digest.
Very interesting article. Thanks for posting this, Barbara!
It would appear that losing one's religion tends to increase mental health or decrease depending on the individual's resiliency and coping skills.
can you imagine what the world of mankind would be like if their was never any concept of a god or religious beliefs ?.
for the love of me i can`t ,maybe i don`t have an imaginative mind equipped well enough to do so .. how about you guys ?
any takers ?.
scratchme1010: Spirituality is part of the human experience. Religion is how it is supposed to be expressed as a community.
Religion and spirituality are not the same, nor is one necessary to have the other.
I would like to remind you of this thread. Curiously, you commented briefly on it but never returned to the discussion:

Interesting question. Perhaps a world without religion might occur in our future, but religion was inevitable in our past for at least two reasons:
1. We are wired that way: Our brains naturally seek explanations for events. So, for example, when our pre-scientific ancestors (who had no knowledge of atmospheric temperature and pressure differentials or static electricity) saw brilliant flashes of light in the sky and heard loud "booms," Thor in the mountains pounding away with his hammer seemed as likely an explanation as any. Supernatural explanations for nearly every natural phenomena are plentiful in our history. Every culture and religion has them. Every one.
2. We are wired that way: Humans are social animals. We have always lived in groups ranging from the small family unit to the tribe and eventually on to larger social structures. As is observable in any group of animals with a social structure--from baboons to wolves to chickens--there is always some sort of hierarchy. Humans are no different in this regard. Someone always wants to be the top-dog or Alpha male. Most are content to be followers. Religion provides a convenient justification for this arrangement. This is true in every culture and religion. Every one.
The only way forward, as I see it, is to promote universal, science-based education for everyone and to strive toward creating a more egalitarian society for all. For that to happen, religions would have to go away--at least as they presently exist.
I am first and foremost a scientist, but I am also a student of history and human behavior. Because of this, and being the pragmatist that I am, I can only say this to the proposed end of religion: Good luck with that!
so it's been over a month since i decided to grow a beard.
the mustache and chin have come in fuller than i ever imagined - while the cheeks leave me wondering if i'll ever grow enough hair to make it not look so wildly unkept and patchy (if anyone has any advice here it'd be much appreciated).
but in the mean time i'll give it another month and see how it goes.. .
Coded Logic: if anyone has any advice here it'd be much appreciated
Wahl not only has some great grooming tools, their website displays a variety of pictures showing different ideas for grooming and some vids on how to do it:
... and this time it was mine.. mrs. eden decided to part ways and leave home, and so our 25 year long partnership is now dissolving.
.
just another colateral damage in a long list of colateral damages from being raised in the "truth".
Eden, after reading your first post I just wanted to say I’m sorry. But then after reading your second post and explanation I’m moved to add that perhaps it’s better for all considering all the circumstances you related.
Life is often difficult. I’m confident you’ll rise to the challenges. The best is yet to come.

from 2012 thru 2016, congregations in georgia and alabama collected funds to build a new assembly hall in south atlanta.
to date, 3.5 million dollars was collected and 75 acres was purchased.
the branch decided that this assembly hall was not needed.
I’ve lost track of all the times I’ve read about this particular scam played out around the world by the WTBTS.
WT leadership is expert at fleecing the flock of god.
And of course, “the faithful” don’t know because they avoid sites like this.
