  Are we losing our way a bit at JWN?

  firstly, i want to be crystal clear how grateful i am for jwn.

  it's been my place of support for over seventeen years and it's the first online space i direct anyone to if they are taking steps out of the cult.

  i am not bashing jwn - i love this place and appreciate the hard work and expense simon puts in to keep it going.

  BOC: the one thing that all full-blown cults have in common is family/friends shunning a person just because they believe something different or walk away from the cult.

  It’s anecdotal, but I personally know dozens of people that have told me they have been cut-off, unfriended and otherwise shunned on social-media and in the real world because of different political beliefs. That is, by definition, cultish behavior.

  Intolerance of individual expressions of differences as well as commonalities

  Anyone that doesn’t see how rampant this particular kind of cultish behavior has become on this forum since Trump was elected is almost certainly guilty of it!

  i live in the des moines iowa area , i would be interested in doing a kingdom hall crash after watching some on youtube, i would love to do that with a group of people.

  i haven't meet any other ex jw around here.

  i was never baptized, i always knew i could never live up to jehovah's standard so i never did even consider baptizing.

  convention in lowell mass june 15-17 2018...about 4500 in attendance...11 baptized (0.24%)...believe about 6 of those were kids of current jw's..

  0.00244 x 100 = 0.24%

  When I joined this religion in the ‘80s the baptisms were always 1 - 3% of the attendance at conventions and assemblies. Always.

  I clearly remember a dozen years or so ago at an assembly of about 1,500 in a suburban area in California where no one got baptized. No one.

  Several of the long time elders were shocked and visibly disturbed.

  Fay, the linked video is clearly a propaganda piece, but there was nothing in it about selling Kingdom Halls. Do you have a direct link to that info?

  On another note, this video does promote the idea of “filling empty seats” via congregation mergers. What happened to trying to do that by proselytizing?

  I guess they realize that doesn’t happen much any more! 🤣
