My parents found out

so in my last post i talked about how i had told my younger siblings how i didn't plan to get baptized or ever be a witness.

i thought i could trust them but i guess i was wrong, they're just kids after all.

my oldest brother (who's 11) told on me today.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with this. But it is you that has to deal with this.

Seeking advice from strangers on the internet is a tricky thing at best and potentially dangerous thing at worst. Most of us here are ex- or current-JWs that no longer believe this religion is "the truth." And, while generally we are as a group caring, compassionate people, few of us here are specifically trained to counsel others. We speak from our hearts and our experience.

Also, most of us here are quite a bit older than you are.

Finally, none of us really know and understand your situation. We only know what you've told us and that is not a lot.

In your previous post you wrote: "I told my younger siblings (who are trustworthy don't worry) about how I don't want to be a jw and my plans to leave."

You have now learned a painful but important lesson: you can't trust anyone that is in the JW religion. No one. The only person you can trust is yourself, and you've been indoctrinated all of your life not to do that. This is something you have to learn how to do.

Proceed slowly and with caution. Ask for feedback here. Weigh the pros and cons of what others write in response. But remember: all decisions are yours.

My disassociation story

following is a summary of events leading up to my decision to disassociate from jehovah's witnesses and the unforeseen results of that decision.. a young man named joel engardio produced a documentary about jehovah's witnesses called "knocking" which aired nationally on pbs.

i purchased the dvd from joel before it was even released and we exchanged emails.

joel had been raised by his jw mother and had been active in jw activities during his adolescence, but he was never baptized as a jw.

As BluesBrother commented, it's not THAT these people are wanting pictures with other people, it's WHY they want to get a picture of themselves with the GB members.

Yes, and let's be absolutely clear on this. The label of "apostasy" is a convenient way to demonize anyone that disagrees with the control structure and hierarchy of the group. It has nothing at all to do with doctrine. That is just a ruse.

Um, yeah! Cult 101: Thinking is not allowed. Independent Thought and Critical Thinking are specifically the most serious of all "crimes" in a cult.
