a poster on another thread said it's a new rule brought in at this years convention.. last year they were told to shun even non df people and now this?

Here are three relevant quotes from that 2013 QFR:

It is not required that a disfellowshipped person sit at the back of the hall
There is no reason to be unduly concerned about the seating location of a disfellowshipped person in the Kingdom Hall.
Whether a disfellowshipped person sits next to a relative or next to any other member of the congregation should not be a cause for concern as long as he behaves properly. [Emphasis added]

There there it is. The borg doesn't really care where a DF'd person sits in the KH as long as they sit down, shut up and behave yourself.

It's all about one thing: CONTROL!

i have noticed another popular pattern of behaviour amongst witnesses in recent years.. many, and i mean lots of ones with instagram accounts have closed the wife's account, and have started a "couple's" account instead.

also, for families.

the children's accounts have been closed, and the husband starts a "family account".. it is mainly on the husband's device, and seemingly under his control.

honesty

regarding the recent 1975 video at the convention it hit me !.

when reasoning with people about the inspiration of the bible we used the bible writers candor ie/ there honesty when recording bible accounts about there personal mistakes .. how come the governing body despite its claims to be spirit directed are not honest about there mistakes ?.

i have been dating my boyfriend for almost a year now.

when i met him i had no idea that he was a jehovah witness.

we took a vacation and he lied to his parents about who he was with, and they ended up finding out not only that he way lying, but who i was.

SBF, on a more serious note: have you considered the obvious point that--even if JWs are "right" about the divine name--they are so completely and undeniably WRONG about so many other really key doctrinal issues and important issues that there is no way in hell they could possibly be the "one true religion."

Also, as has been discussed endlessly: no one really knows how to completely spell or accurately pronounce the name that is represented by the tetragrammaton:

Rastafarians use "Jah" and "Jehovah."

Maybe they're the one true religion. Even if they aren't, they have great music and some good weed to smoke mon!

is it possible to keep a somewhat relationship with your family if they are witnesses and have a "worldly" girlfriend?

Of course, this would be confusing to you.

But it's because he hasn't really left the religion completely.

People "leave" for all kinds of reasons. But--and this has been addressed in your previous thread--if a person still believes that JWs "have the Truth," they may return.

Most of us on this forum are completely convinced that JWs are just another religion doctrinally, but are worse than most because of their high-control, authoritarian and cultish practices: the coercive control and manipulation of members and the shunning of any and all that leave no matter the reason.

There is a reason that so many people that responded to your first thread used the term "cult" in their response. Do not ignore this.

We here are former and wanna-be-former Jehovah's Witnesses. We here have lost family and friends because we left the religion.

We know of what we speak.

WIT12, You have received a lot of really good, balanced advice in response to your post.

I would like to add that it is extremely significant that most of us refer to our former religion as a cult.

DO NOT MISS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS FACT!

Most ex-JWs have had many--and for some of us, all--family relationships destroyed as a result of our association with this religion.

You probably don't like hearing this, but you need to. Ignore it at your own peril. Listen and learn.
