Oh, I’m sure the “upper management” of this cult knows this stuff goes on. I’m just saying it’s not a formal, well-planned or executed thing.

I was an elder for over two decades and I can tell you on more than one occasion a CO encouraged the elders to engage in this sort of amateur-hour, “private-eye” nonsense. It’s more Keystone cops than anything.

I personally never did it because — well it’s just wrong. But there were always at least a few elders eager to play at “cloak and dagger,” spy-vs-spy. It’s pretty immature actually.

For example, the Orwellian and Puritanical WT mandate that “if two people of the opposite sex spend the whole night together they can be presumed to have fornicated” is all many elders needed as an excuse to pretend to be cops on a stakeout. Some of them just loved that shit. I guess it’s the only excitement in their otherwise dull and dreary lives.

I doubt this is any kind of formal, organized thing. It’s just a bunch of wannabe-important, uneducated janitors and window washers that feel empowered by the cult’s insane rules that makes them believe that they have both the right and the duty to overstep appropriate boundaries and act in ways that violate the privacy of others.

The worst part is that many of us allowed the elders to do this to us and to others when we were members.

All I can say is this, if any elder tried following me or my family now they’d get a quick lesson in the laws of physics followed up with a restraining order.

I just took a look at your introductory post again. Do you remember writing this about a year ago?

Look how much you've changed in a relatively short period of time! I am very proud of you. You show what can be done in reclaiming our lives once we leave the cult. No one can continue to make us feel weak or bad about ourself without our permission. And we're not going to give it to them ever again. Never again.

You're no longer a "feeble nobody," a "toddler with a water pistol," you're a bad-ass women that can take care of herself. A real force of nature.

I said it then, but it bears repeating: It takes courage to live an authentic life. But it is worth it. Once you've awaken, there's no going back.

These incidents show why (and those of us that have studied history know) the hostile, divisive rhetoric of those in leadership positions is so dangerous.

There are a few voices of reason that rise above the din, but sadly there are quite a few that seem to deliberately incite hatred and violence.

In any organization the person at the top steps the tone and the standard for what is acceptable.

I merely recounted the inevitable laws of cause and effect. Thankfully the laws of physics are non-partisan!

Did you notice that you didn’t engage a single one of my arguments? Not one.

Instead you chose to flip the script and go after Hillary. Had you understood my post you would know that I think harassing her—or anyone else for that matter—is just as wrong. But you didn’t. Why not?

You’ve apparently lost your ability to think. Maybe you never had it. Many ex-cult members never developed the ability to think clearly and for themselves.

I’m very disturbed by the fairly large number of people on this forum that have left the JW cult just to join another.
