Thank you for that, JWGB.
People who have never been in a cult may try to understand the pain that results from the destruction of family bonds, but—try as they might—they just can't.
Your words of empathy are comforting.
Again, thanks!

today's article prods active jws to participate in the effort to reactivate us backsliders.. unfortunately, it fails to prepare the participants to adequately address the real reasons so many have left and want nothing frtherethan to be left alone: the un and child abuse scandals, prophetic failures; dumbed-down, increasingly specious and simplistic verbiage in literature and talks, the cult of personality and unwarranted veneration of those 8 singularly unremarkable members of the gb, etc., etc..

JWGoneBad: jp1692 ... Are there grandchildren that you're not allowed to have a relationship with?
Good question. I actually don't know. Could be!
It's very, very sad. I keep trying to reach out, but get no response. One of my children had blocked my phone number. When I tried contacting him with an app that hid my number, he changed his phone number. That's the one that lives 2 blocks from me.
I really, really hate this fucking cult!

JAGNM: we were never weak, many here were what the org would consider exemplary. Pioneers, MS, Elders, Bethelites etc etc.
Indeed, I was an elder for over 20 years. The last six or seven years I was PIMO, trying to figure out how to get out of the religion with my family intact.
Unfortunately I was not able to do that. I eventually left because I could no longer stand to pretend to believe in things which obviously were not true. My ex-wife and children are still in the religion.
My adult children have shunned me for eleven years simply because I don't go to the kingdom hall. Both of my kids live only a few miles away from me. The closest is actually only two blocks away; I pass his house at least twice a week while running my usual errands: shopping, etc.
This religion destroys families.
As I have said countless times: It's a cult!

My father, who was never a Witness, once said to me: “That religion destroyed your family!”
He was right.
Let’s review: It’s a cult!
new light: overlapping slices of cheeze!.
now as jesus was departing from henning's wisconsin cheese cheese store and museum, his disciples approached to show him their shiny new delivery van.
in response he said to them: “do you not see all these things?

It’s all hype to make the rank & file JWs think they are caring people. We know it’s not true. They aren’t. Not really.
There are exceptions of course, but generally speaking the elders don’t make much of an effort, if any at all, to contact people who have left the religion.
It’s anecdotal, but I believe my personal experience in this regard is fairly typical of what happens when an elder attempts to contact “a lost sheep” who is actually a person such as us that is fully awake to the fact that the JW religion is really a cult:
I quit attending meetings almost eight years ago. Since then I have only been contacted once by an elder; he wanted to have a “shepherding” call. I politely declined, but said I would appreciate if he would set up a meeting to help me reconcile with some JW family with whom I had been alienated by the religion when I was DF’d six years prior to that—I had been reinstated for two years at this point.
He said he couldn’t do that because they weren’t in his congregation. (Both congregations are less than a 10 minute drive from my house.) I replied, “That’s funny, because that’s exactly what the elders in their congregation said to me—they couldn’t help because I’m not in their congregation!” (I had previously taken the initiative to contact the elders in my family’s congregation asking for help to reconcile our broken relationships. The elders in that congregation refused using the lame excuse I mentioned above.)
So much for an “International Brotherhood”!
That was more than five years ago. Since then, none of the elders in any congregation I have ever been associated with have made any attempts at all to contact me. Not one of them. Not even one.
I’ve lived in the same house for the last nine years and still have the same phone number I’ve had for over two decades. So it’s not like they don’t know where or how to find me. They clearly don’t want to, and I prefer it that way. But the point is that their claims of caring about those that have left is all bullshit. They don’t actually mean it. Not really.
Frankly, I think they are afraid of me. They know I know the real truth: The Truth About “The Truth.”
Or as I like to say, let’s review: It’s a cult!

Magnum: We are the strong ones.

i realize some here are diehard democrats.
whether you are democrat, republican or independent, do you support any of these looters that cause mayhem and destruction for their cause?
i have heard some people sympathize with these law breakers saying they understand why they do what they do and leave it at that.. of course i wonder how they would feel if their own property was burnt or stolen or destroyed..
- Minimus: “They should have simply taken footage from many of the cities where the ‘peaceful protesters’ were burning cars and buildings. Geeshhhh.” (Emphasis added. See this page of this thread—just look up👆🏼3 posts above this one).
Also Minimus: “Rioters are often wrongly identified as protesters.“ (See page 1 of this thread—3rd post👇🏼from the top).
As I said before, but apparently it bears repeating: In the United States of America, peacefully protesting is a protected right which is enshrined into the US Constitution via the First Amendment.
Rioting and looting are crimes which should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
It's a logical fallacy to conflate the two.
This is not a Republican or Democrat thing; it's a Constitutional thing.
Protesters are law-abiding citizens. Rioters and looters are criminals.
They are not the same thing!
For anyone that would like to read more, here is a link to a Congressional Research Service White Paper regarding the crimes of rioting and property destruction:
State and local laws would also apply to rioting, property destruction and other crimes.

White supremacists don't hide their identities. They are not law abiding yet they continue to get a free pass.
