i cannot think of any worse place to have a convention than the pontiac silverdome.

for years my family went to south bend, indiana to avoid it.

then when south bend stopped having conventions (probably having something to do with the catholics not appreciating the brothers slamming the religion that financed, built, and hosts the lovely arena they were using), we tried madison, wisconsin for a year, before finally trudging back over to silverdome.

The LAST assembly we went to we all got food poisoning...funny thing is..when we went back to the meeting everyone acted like it was a big secret and not to tell anyone...

We all compared what we ate but that didn't work..they had turkey and dressing but I suspected the ice tea sitting in an aluminum pitcher ...

Sure wish we could have sued their butts off..we were sick as a dog..laying on the floor hugging the porcelin god kind.

ps...That's probably when they decided not to serve hot meals anymore!

my husband decides not to decorate the house since my stupid sister asked the co of her congregation to call on us and he's been coming by on a casual basis.. well the co is in town so my husband says, "i'm not doing the house.

They probably loved it!..They love to get people in trouble....Makes their day and gives them something to gossip about.

By the way..whats the punishment these days for having a X mas tree in your house?...Is that like having a cross in your house? Can they disfellowship you for that or just reprove you?

Gifts that scream cheap or are just plain irritating!!!

as the holiday season approaches, we often hear the term "bad gifts" or "useless gifts" being thrown around in stories of christmas past.

i was sitting and thinking of different gift ideas and stories i heard in my life, that truly stink or are just plain irritating.

if the thought counted, then these gifts are thoughtless.

One of my best friends when we were JW's gave me a christmas gift and acted like it was such a loving gift! We had both quit being JW"S and she decided to celebrate christmas.She gives me this box wrapped in used xmas paper.(I don't know where she got that from).

I opened the box and it was a very USED vest like they used to knit years ago. It was so obviously used I just stared in embarrasment.It had lint balls all over it and didn't even look like it had been washed. It wasn't even folded..it was just thrown in the box.Now this was a girl that shopped in botique stores, always bought expensive clothes, had to have the best..and she gives me..her best friend..a knitted vest that she had obviously picked up at some thrift store.( I had never seen her wear it..she wouldn't have been caught dead in it).Anyway she hands it to me and looks like she is just so proud to give me such a wonderful gift!...I went home and cried...I was so insulted..homemade cookies would have been cheap but a wonderful gesture..I got a used up wrinkled lint ball covered vest in a ugly faded green color.

Needless to say..I took the hint and didn't visit her anymore..it took her a while to stop calling but she finally got the hint and we quit being friends.If it's the thought that counts..I got the thought!!!

Snoozy...who would rather give a cheaper or homemade gift than a used up gift!!!

to avoid boring you all ( as if this isn't getting a bit redundant already ) i have edited bits and pieces of the best parts of her first e-mail , and his return e-mail, and her last e-mail after his reply so you can see what went down in conversation .

movie "THE MIST" delivers with a religious edge...

i really enjoyed this one.

it quickly becomes an apocalyptic type movie when the unknown conquers mankind.

town residents are hold up in a grocery store when a strange mist or fog kills anyone who enters it.

Thank you Frank. I too am wanting to see the movie. I haven't heard anyone talk about it lately and I was afraid it may be a dud. But you have encouraged me..now I will make an effort to go see it.

I'll let you know what I think about the movie..Thanks for not telling the ending..I hear it's a dozy...
